Capable of mid-12’s in most drivers’ hands. I’m intrigued, but will wait to see how well sorted out the car is. Too many good luxury fast cars in the $80-$160k range to spend $80k on a mustang, unless the performance is bonkers.

Lol, this isnt a manual. Maybe this car will put the power down efficiently, or maybe not. But that dct will be the hero of this car

I expect GM to announce the LT5 in the Camaro 3-4 weeks after they get done with the C8 Corvette release in mid-July. 5 HP less won't matter with the torque and 250 less curb weight.

You know it is coming...........you know it.
I called that a few months ago. GM will answer for sure. No way they get curb stomped again like the gen 5 ZL1 did.

Can about guarantee the reason it’s only 625tq is because of the DCT. Probably torque management down low and willing to bet Tremec wouldn’t warranty anything above that or at least not by much. I expect some folks to be very upset if they turn up the wick and bring in more power down low, probably kill that tranny.

I believe there is a video out there of the lead engineer on the project, and while he didn’t mention the DCT, I could have sworn he talked about dialing in the torque mgmt. of the car to aid in launching. There is probably a durability component to that comment as well.

I believe it, the weight of the car isn’t helping. Be curious to see what upgraded components will allow it to be turned up to.

its so funny to me that the ONLY negative about any dodge car...is its weight. Dodge's marketing is on point, and has been for a few years now. They are producing some badass products, but all that matters is THE WEIGHT. Not how they well run, superb interior quality, beefy transmissions, etc.

LOLOL

'yes they're heavy compared to other vehicles, but they also run 9s/10s stock as they come'

'yeah but they're still heavy'

'aaaaaaand we're done here'

Then you have people who road course their cars like I do. All of the Dodge Challengers are poor handling pigs that weigh too much.

I think Ford is marketing the GT500 to be a well rounded car in terms of drag racing and the road course. The GT350R is a pretty exceptional car on the road course.

Ford comes out with something new and special and all the same old and incorrect comments come out every time.

"It's going to be heavy" - It never ends up being as heavy as they claim

"It's going to cost $90-100k" - Ford lists MSRP at $55k for the 13 GT500, $50k for GT350.

"ECU won't be cracked" ECU cracked and tunes available after a month or two, +130whp gains with just $1200 in pulleys/tune/bolt ons.

Do any of the people saying these things remember saying the exact same thing for the last GT500 and even the GT350 and then being proven completely wrong? These cars always end up in the middle in most ways. When you make extreme claims on price and weight you are going to be wrong every time because Ford's track record is to always offer a big package at a reasonable cost.

Once again, is it about the actual GT500 selling, or is it about the overall impact the GT500 has to Ford and Mustang sales?

The Demon makes me want to buy a SCAT Pack and give a solid look at the Ram.

The GT500 doesn't make me want a S550 nor a F150.

Ram is now Number 2 and LX cars continue to increase sales.

Challenger is a dynasour and yet its increasing every year while Mustang sales are falling.

Throw in the Chargers 80k a year and the LX is the undisputed King of Muscle.

You're take on the numbers is interesting because you seem to be indicating the challenger is increasing at the mustangs expense. However, when you actually look at the data, it is clear the actual market for these types of cars is shrinking. Not just the desire for the mustang alone. The Camaro and mustang both have gone down year over year but the challenger has stayed fairly static.

Stating the challenger is increasing each year is technically true but not by a lot. Although, they are down this year compared to the same point in the years prior.

Point is, the challenger is managing to stay steady but it has been behind both the muatang and Camaro (up until last year where it passed the camaro) in sales.

I actuallly need to verify the numbers you posted because it seems awfully suspicious the Camaro and mustang both had the same numbers respectively for the months posted. It seems weird only dodge posted April and Mays numbers too.

Edit: yep, 2019 is incorrect for the mustang according to these websites
