Panama : down below Mexico, that's where gangs and drug dealers are at.

Punta Cana: Well that is the DR.

Jamaica: a bunch of pot smokers, I don't want to deal with druggies

the Bahamas: Which ones, there's to many, I need an easy vacation option.

Costa Rica: Too far away, all rain forest like, I just want a pretty all inclusive beach

I'd skip it.

I was 6'4" 185 when I went to one of the islands 35 years ago. Came home sick. Lost like 15 lbs in 10 days. Speaking from experience, I lived, but it wasn't worth it.

if you are staying at a reputable place YOU WILL BE FINE.

if you think with your brain and use common sense you will be fine. Don't BE ALONE at night. Don't get drinks from a shady bar. Don't carry loads of cash. Don't leave your shit on the beach. Don't buy weed from Jaffar on the beach. Again .....common thinking skills.

Go for it bro. You have a better chance of dying in the car ride to the airport. Worried about murder rate? Pull up the city you live in . Violence is pretty bad no matter where you are. You just have to avoid it and be SMART. Oh ....and maybe you can sneak a knife some where for protection.

seriously, what are the ****ing odds? 1 in 1 million? It's not like a plague of people dying. Can't tell you how many times I've been to DR and Mexico.

people are worried about tainted alcohol LOL.... OK then ....go to Costco or Walmart, and buy 3 thirty packs and 2 handles of Rum. That will be a GREAT start to your vacation. Oh, also grab 2 packs of water cases too.

I've been to like 30 countries, and stay in the cheapest places. Mexico city is high on my list of places to go to soon. Would I go to the DR right now? Yeah, if free or prepaid, but two major things. ZERO mixed drinks as I wouldn't trust their liquor, and I would make damn sure my room was well ventilated. I would open all the windows, fan on, and be in there as little as possible.

Most people head there for an all inclusive. They land, hop a shuttle and don't leave the property until their flight home. They don't want to go to walmart. They don't want to see locals. They don't want to worry about anything, period...that's why they are at an all inclusive.

I had a blast when i went to the DR a year or so ago. Stayed at the hard rock. Lots of great food. Tons of drinking and beach never closes.

not true at all. I hate all inclusives. Huge rip off. Usually the booze is shit and the food is shit. Many people get a rental car so they can explore the island. Which includes, hitting the local stores for food.

I could never do a all inclusive. I have to get out and explore. Saying that no way I am going to any turd world country. Too much here to see. Been to every state and 5 provinces and still a lot out there.
