lookin good! excited to see what it makes.

Did you end up cutting the firewall to get it to fit?
No, did not need to cut the firewall. I cut the hood inner support trying to avoid spacers. But only ended up with spacers in the end and a cut hood :(. I wanted to keep the hood original, but might try a cowl hood in the future and ditch the spacers. ‍(edit; guess the form dosent like emojis.)

Any updates on this?
Looks like a hell of a build op. In case I missed it, what compression are you running?
Thanks
Ken

Mild base tune was put on the car 2 weeks ago. 50 break in miles were put on it at that time. Some minor things to work out as with any major build. Itll be hitting the dyno very soon.

Short update: The car is in its final tuning stages. It's had a base tune put on for break in. It's now hit the dyno for several long sessions. Has made over 960rwhp just before throwing the belt. After lots of diag time, the cause has been found and will soon be repaired for more finalizing. Final #s will be over 1k.

The car is ready for the dyno again. It made 960hp before the belt jumped off. Found the metco standoff was bent. Replacement revised parts are in and ready. Also when on E85, it was climbing toward 40lbs real quick. Swapped to a 4" upper and 6.55 lower to try and get it down to about 28#. Had a mess of diff. fluid due to expansion. So added a Bob's expansion tank. Had to trunk mount it due to limited space running the 9" rear. Swapped the maf also.

What MAF are you using now?

Your pulley combo of 4" upper and 6.55" lower is only going to spin the blower at 10,600rpm at 6500rpm. 4.0L whipple is 18k max rotor rpm so you aren't going to be anywhere near 28psi I would think. How was it pullied for the 960rwhp?

I have a 3.4 with 3.5"/6.55" and that is 15psi at 3400ft on a ported, cammed, big bore setup.

I might question the boost numbers your dyno shop is providing you with!

As of now, I dont know what the combo was. This is the info I have for now, through short phone conversations. I could ask, but it dosent matter until its sorted. Goal was 28# max on E85. He said, it was climbing towards 40#s fast. That could be anything over 30#s which is not unrealistic. The 960rwhp was on E98 fuel and kicked the belt around 6500rpm. This is very much still in the tunnig phase. There are a few gremlins to sort. But hopefully it's done very soon.

As for the 4" and 6.55. I may have misunderstood. But that is what he had asked me to order. May not be used in that combo as I've supplied many uppers and lowers. This is where I step away and trust it in their hands to find what the best combo will be.

I've got 2 on deck. SCT BA-5000 and the Ford 07-2010 gt500 slot maf. Sounded like the tuner thought the Ford maf would work better with the E85. Time will soon tell.

I know many tuners perfer the GT500 slot style to the BA. One reason I am still on the slot style.

The BA5000 is a slot style as well. I sold mine because I knew I would never need the range it provided.

Ah ok. When I was designing my latest CAI I was told to stay away from the BA. My Ford slot style MAF so far has done me well in a 5" setup.

That's good to know. I wonder why they told you to stay away though? The 5000 was probably the easiest to tune in my blow through set up. Even though I only used about half of the range at the time.

This was 2016ish when I designed the last one. So it may of been before the 5000. I had not planned on using it so I never questioned.

I hope all works out, I have red flags going in my head with some of the values you have been given is all. You can give whipple a call they should have a good idea for a 4.6L mod motor what blower rpm will be required to get you 28lbs so you aren't throwing money at multiple pulley combos.
