Always love a good, well kept, functional garage. Got lot of ideas from other car friends and the online community. I cant justify BIG $$ rehabs though, Id like a lift, but not required. So I took what I did like from the rest of you, and made it my own. Still some minor upgrades to do, lighting, and new switches etc.

Moved in a jus ta few years ago, garage is functional, but plain. Cant have a plain garage now can we? Feel free to post up your own.

The biggest compliment I get is on the flooring. Ill tell you, It was a PITA, and if I could do it again, I would, but I would go with a more professional/Bulk order of the epoxy flooring. the rustoleaum stuff is "good" but expensive and your going to want to buy more than what the "say" you need

1st step is to clean the shit out

Then onto painting

i rented the floor sander with diamond cutter from lowes for like $50/day, i kept it 2 days as i was going to go over it twice, after the etching

After that its onto chemical etching to get grease and grime up

Garage is 20x20, it took 6 boxes of the rustoleum, I did not add the 2nd clearcoat top onto it. I was just tired.

I will warn everyone, it is SUPER slippery when wet, damn near a real hazard, especially with kids around

Lighting is ok, but after several youtube searches, this brand keeps popping back up, and this guy offers the best review so far. I bought 2 8 packs and plan on using 12 of them in here, and then maybe adding the rest to car trailer, or just have as spares

They should be here in a few days, ill post before and afters when they arrive

I top coated my floor with Rexthane1 from Armorseal, I bought it at Sherwin Williams, mean stuff, you need to wear a respirator.

I think the Rexthane 1 was about $85 bucks and a gal of reducer was about $20. My floor is 11'4" X 25' and one gallon was good for two coats and I had a little left over. I bought a respirator mask at Harbor Freight, and the rollers and Rexthane at Sherwin Williams. It is holding up very well, it has been down since last fall and still looks new. no tire tracks, I just sweep it and mop it with clean water. I love it. I had a couple of cracks and I got a couple of tubes of two part epoxy filler there too. you put in a small bead and then some sand and fill up the crack and the next day level it with a sharp putty knife and then I sanded the floor with a 40 grit floor sander that I rented from Home Depot. Then two coats of gray epoxy, spinkled some chips and top coated with the Rexthane. I saved about $1800 by doing it myself.

Honestly after spending two months enclosing an old carport it just didnt seem finished with crappy 57 year old floor. If I had to pay someone $2500 to do the job it may have been another story. I finished the ceiling and installed recessed LED lights also. But I guess the most important thing is that it pleases me everytime I walk out there. Did I mention that I put a door on each end?

You can sprinkle sand in the top epoxy coat, I used colored chips to give it texture. I believe the also have a fine clear plastic material you can mix in to add texture. then you apply the clear top coats to seal it in. If this had been new concrete I would have had many options but because of its age and the numerous stains I wanted a uniform color so it wouldn't look so shabby. And yes I have a touch of OCD.
