Glad to see you revived her. Enjoy it as much as you can!

I too had a bad experience with a used 04 Cobra vert. Turned out the motor bottom end had been re-built with MMR parts. Long story short, broke a piston wrist pin. I ended up selling it for a pretty good loss to someone that had the garage and tools to pull and replace the motor with a rebuilt long block from Tousley Ford. Lesson learned....the hard way.

What track are you running at? I wouldn't mind seeing the car make a pass.

Congrats @Tighteyes! When you go this thing I know how much of a bummer it was when you found out the bottom end was wasted. Looks like you turned her into a monster. :D
Had no choice either it sits and rots or I do something we only live once and I see everyone having so much fun figured what the hell lets throw some money at it and make it go fast.

Valves and guides can be replaced. Are your heads cracked? It would seem someone could rebuild them for a lot less than the route you're going.

I'd shop that $3,800 price tag. Nothing wrong with stock valves and a good multi angle valve job. I don't really care what you do, but if you're trying to trim the cost of this rebuild, there are ways to do it and still get rid of the primary achilles' heel in this motor, the rods. Your money, your choice.
The heads actually ended up drivers side warped 10%, someone used them to mock up some kind of special valves for their race car. =/ Sucked but so far the car has been rolling around about to change pulley to lose boost so i can see what it feels like with a gen3.
