Justin and the gang are in Carlisle for the Ford Nationals they did a little "preview/look see" of the 2020 GT500. (base model)

Starts @ 10:30 something mark, they also "sneak peek" their Gen 3R blower, these things are worst than updates on Apple iPhone phones (kinda sucks if you just bought a Gen 3).

Maybe "preview" wasn't a good word to use, they just went over there and did a look see with some "comments" on how it looks.

edit: Try this video from Tob's favorite youtuber:

He's out there ("mamba") making the effort and I credit him for it. That said, the content is sorely lacking. Maybe it's just me but I'm looking for some actual technical content instead of "click for likes" and "this is sooo cool" blah, blah. Maybe something like asking Carl why these latest cars don't have the oil separator shown on the green car at Ford's Michigan outing. Is it going to be a FR aftermarket piece or somehow an OEM part?

If I was Justin I'd have spent more time on the development car. That's where the secrets lie. Nobody around? Get your phone/camera underneath - tie it to a spool of dental floss...whatever you have to do. Look underneath. And what was inside the dark tinted windows?

I do like how the development hood louvers have a depression at the rear that the production piece doesn't have.

I think you are asking the wrong guy(s) to find out all the super technical stuff that you are seeking. All these youtubers out there are car guys but they probably aren't super technical car guys, they don't give a rat's ass why the hood vent is designed the way it is designed by Ford they see a hood vent and it's a 20min video on youtube wondering why the hood vent is black and can't be ordered in any other colour.

I like all your technical inquiries and photos that you have supplied in all your posts on SVTPMB here, they provide a good insight into why things are designed, produced, and supplied the way they are...……...but the vast majority of people that buy cars don't care about that stuff (I'm not one of them however), they just want the stuff on the cars to look good and work.

The answers that you seek would be best answered by you asking those questions to the people responsible directly.

That's why when you have the opportunity you seize the moment. Appealing to mouthbreathers may get you likes but it earns you zero respect amongst those with even a modicum of knowledge on the matter(s). The guy has had multiple discussions with the head of the whole program and continues to bring nothing to the table. That is hard to forgive. Points for making the trip though.

Like you pointed out, when they get the opportunity seizing the moment for them is to make sure people hit the subscribe button on their channel and point out to the many masses that the only colour available on that hood vent is black.

Give yourself the points by making the trip to talk directly with Jim and/or Carl.

We'll see if Travis has the opportunity to send someone to a chassis or engine reveal similar to what was done for the GT350. I'm ready to head to Michigan if happens. When hat mamba moves out of the way we'll put Carl to the test.

Make Carl think he's your wingman then when you grille him with the super technical questions you can school "Mamba" on how it's done when the opportunity is there to "seize the moment".

The emergency trunk release was sticking out of the mule so I pulled on it and opened the trunk and looked in, and saw ............

Nothing

No seats, no console, no carpet, just a dash and door pads

Certainly expected, why would they leave confidential equipment etc in a car that will be around the public? No surprise

Would be cool if Ford had left an actual spec sheet just sitting in the car on purpose to see how long (or not) it would take to light up the inter webs. Ford needs to work on their roll out a bit. That would have been creative and cool. Why not have fun with it.

The HD on VMPs video is the worst I have seen, hopefully he will get the nack of taking HD videos before his next video.

So I asked about the oil separator while I was there and told that the one of the Green GT500 at the 2019 GT350 media day was a possible Ford Performance Parts offering. The GT500 will not ship with one and also not carry the same recommendation for one during track use like the GT350.

Maybe I should start a YouTube channel...

Great intel and interesting that it wouldn't be a recommended item in the OM. Did he delineate as to why Ford made that decision?

Nothing other than during testing they weren't seeing any significant oil capture like on the GT350 during track use. I can't remember what side it was but one was dry.

One was dry? So FR has two separators developed for the GT500? Or are you saying he was referring to one of the two GT350 separators offered for it (the GT350) being dry?

I don't know if Ford Performance Parts has one for each side. We know there is at least a passengers side one because of the green GT500 at the 2019 GT350 media event. When I noticed the oil separator was not on the GT500 at Carlisle I immediately asked about it. That's when they said it would not be included on the car and offered up the additional information of not even being recommended in the manual for track use. Thinking back to the conversation I don't think they actually said what side was dry but I would assume the driver's side given it only caught something under heavy track use on the GT350. I should have gone over and talked to the FPP guys to ask what their plans are, but spent most of my time talking with Jim and Carl which were super friendly and engaging.

Driver side on the GT350 is typically always dry. In speaking with Ron Ewert, the FR engineer behind the GT350 separators, he admitted that side would be dry unless the car is tracked hard.
