3" Exhaust on Stock Lightning?

Would a 3" Full exhaust be that bad on a stock 00 lightning? I'm currently looking for an exhaust at the moment, but I can get a full 3" exhaust with long tubes for a similar or cheaper price than the 2.5" exhausts online...

I know that the stock exhaust is fine for the lifetime of the stock block, but I do plan on doing small mods in the near future and getting a built shortblock on the side. I'd just hate to have to buy another exhaust system if the negatives of a 3" are not significant...

If the engine moves enough air to justify 3in I’d say go fo it.

I don't know that anyone has really dyno'd them. Most won't spend the money for a quality 3" system on a mostly stock truck. Im curious where you are finding long tubes and 3" exhaust for cheaper than 2.5"

A buddy of mine has a set of headers from either American racing or cannon that he has left over from parting out a totaled lightning. Id need the rest of the exhaust, but it should come out to less than what a full 2.5" would cost if I got it new...

My problem right now is that I want to start preparing my truck for mods and a new shortblock in the future, but I want all the supporting mods first (and don't want to waste time/money having bungs welded into my stock exhaust for a wideband).

I plan on working on this truck for a while, so I dont mind spending the money on an exhaust right now even though it wouldn't be cost effective for power gains. As long as it would save money in the long run and id be set for the lifetime of the truck.

Ultimate goal is just a decent size blower on it with heads & mild cams. (Similar to one of your trucks I've seen on youtube)

It’s not going to hurt anything if that’s what you’re asking.

If it was a naturally aspirated motor the. Yes but even a stock boost levels the truck moves enough air you should be fine but make sure to keep a muffler on it for a small amount of back pressure.

I ran full 3” header back on mine when it was just bolt ons and stock pulleys
