I've been thinking about picking up an open trailer to pull the mustang around on, would be nice if I could also squeeze my ATV on there when going back and forth to NC. The car is an 03 Mach 1 and the ATV is just a 2012 Honda Foreman. The ATV is 48" wide and weighs around 650lbs wet, I figure it would just go on sideways either front or rear.

What length trailer would you look at? My main concern is trying to balance the weight without putting too much on the tongue. I'd rather not have to get into weight distributing hitches but it wouldnt be the end of the world.

Tow vehicle is a 2012 F150 ecoboost with tow package, I believe it was rated to roughly 10k lbs towing so no issues there.

well a mustang is about 15 feet so id say anything over 20ft would probably to the trick. i have a 36 foot trailer that fits 2 mustangs with a little room left over.

You should use a weight distributing hitch with or with the ATV. Pretty sure Ford recommends at 500 tongue weight or 5000 pounds trailer weight.

Also need to check your payload number and not just max tow weight. Anything you have in the truck (passengers, luggage, aftermarket accessories, etc.) plus tongue weight needs to be under the payload #. You'll likely hit that number before the 10K trailer weight.

"I wish I had a smaller trailer..." said no one ever.

~17 for your car. ~5 for your atv. Toss in an extra foot or two for some leeway. I would go 24'.

I wouldn't worry about the weight.

Ya i understand all that. I’ll probably bite the bullet and go aluminum to keep the weight down.

As was said...get a 22’+ and a weight distribution hitch. And no surge brakes.

I don’t think aluminum is necessary. Not sure I’ve seen many/any aluminum trailers over 20’ long. If they exist they will be pricey.

Edit - you might want 24’ in case you get a second quad...
