Whats everybody using these days?

The oem lasted me 2 years after my built motor was done back in 2007. I then got the PA Performance 130 Amp Alternator from lethal, it lasted 4 years. I then got an autozone one and it lasted 2 years and my last one was a rebuilt oem. its about 3 years old. She started running bad last night, shaking at idle, put max load on it and volts were at 11.43 time for a new one. I checked and n warranty's them because they all know there going to brake, I guess.

The total miles are 21k, that's a bad alternator every 5k about!!

Any better options out there that will last?

And yes I am running the 4 pound lower with the different alternator pulley to not make it spin to fast.

My mechman has been really good. You’ll want to do a big 3 wire upgrade as well with these higher output alternators

J2 Fabrication Hairpin unit is the way to go! They are available in 185A and 270A. Let us know if we could be of any assistance here at Lethal Performance!

Watch which disgruntled customers you get your information from.

Firstly, J2Fab is one of the "big brands" and the only one of the aforementioned that actually builds the Cobra unit in house.

With over 1000 units in service now, and over 300 of the new hairpin's (with zero warranties on the hairpin I will add) it is hands down the number one source for Cobra charging several years running.

As for the post you just shared a screenshot of, I believe that is Ryan Williams. Ryan Williams screwed up on his own admittance installing the cable kit and purposefully grounded the Alternator charge wire to see if it was hot "for craps and giggles".

Ryan would of gotten his unit repaired under the lifetime service portion and just paid for parts, but that was not good enough. He wanted to threaten to slander J2 on social media if he was not fully covered and asserted that it was J2Fab's fault for instructions not being clear enough.

Out of said 1000+ units in service this particular situation has only happened twice. Once with Ryan, and once with his friend who he helped install.

J2Fab would not be Lethals go-to brand if they had a track record of screwing customers or putting out bad parts.

Really? Cause what happened with yours?? Is this coming from the same person that doesn’t even understand the different generations of Ford alternators and their (non)interchangeability?

Nothing happened with mine... just saw this post
Mine is a mechman, remember?

Sorry, didn’t mean you, xsellr8...meant the one in your post. I apologize. Just had it out with that guy (Ryan Williams) on a Cobra FB Group. So tired of the negative nellies that plague our hobby.
