My cars complete after it being down a few months. Went from stock to a 2.9 whipple. The new exhaust is just too much for the street tho. ARH 1-7/8 with 3” x pipe to borla stingers. It’s loud, too loud, so any suggestions are appreciated.

Ya the list of mufflers quieter than Stingers is a long list. Just need to find a setup you like and replace them. If still too loud look in to adding Cats back.

I love stingers at your power level a Catted midpipe is probably out of the question. What about a pro chamber?

I had a prochamber but honestly I’m trying to avoid eliminating the x pipe I have on the car. It was expensive enough for the setup lol would hate to take it out. If the magnaflow mufflers boot right on the stinger pipes I think I’ll go that route. It is raspy as hell and I’m trying to daily this car lol

Yeah your only other option I could think of besides mufflers would be resonators welded one on each bank of that x-pipe.

Like mentioned above, I added resonators to my x-pipe to tone down the rasp and it helped a lot. Wanted to tone it down a tad and smooth out the sound without the restriction of having cats. Stingers are just plain loud though.

I have your same combo but 1-3/4" ARH headers.

I was talking to Borla and they do have some 40944. These are 3" I believe as I was interested in possibly going up to a full 3" rear section. I may do a switch down the road. I do agree the setup is loud.

I do have to say the exhaust setup now is fairly light. Switching mufflers is going to add some weight depending on how much packing they have in them.

I tend to agree with the people above you could try some resonators in the midpipe, I don't think it will tame it down much though. A set of new longer mufflers with a larger case size will be what you need. You are going to need to have them welded in as anything you get that will bolt in won't be large enough to tone it down. If you want quieter at idle and cruising look into the larger oval case mufflers.

Super turbo mufflers seem to help quite a bit in 3". That's what I ended up having to do. Just curious how many db is it at idle? I just used a free app.to check mine out.

75-80. The prob is at about >2000rpm lol

Toning it down will allow me to enjoy the car a little more, I can’t even open it up halfway without having anything around a 1/4mile radius hear me lol

I was in same boat. Few months back I switched to the Borla "Touring" cat-back. You would never believe my car has no cats and it still sounds great. Definitely quieter.

A mild Magnaflow muffler might be what you’re looking for. Though I don’t like the sound they make, you might. I’d heavily consider some Bassani exhaust but that might be “too loud” as well. I’m sure the SLP Power-Flo will work great but if I recall correctly they in 2.5in only. Which might pose a problem if you have 3in exhaust.

The 3 inch midpipe tapers to a 2.5 for the catback

Disregard what I said then. You can pretty much pick anything you want. Bassani would have my vote. Followed by the SLP Power flo’s, but I’d venture to say the power flo’s would be the more tame of the two.

I had the ARH 1 3/4" primary by 3" collector offroad X and a bassani 3" cat back it was loud I installed hi flow 3"cats and it brought it down to 84 db at idle. That's when I went with super turbo mufflers have checked db since but it is way better. I think we almost need to start an exhaust combo/engine combo db thread. Mines a 2.9 whipple built motor with cams.

when we had to quiet down my cobra, the engine builder at mustang magic told me to put a prochamber and magnaflows on. Problem solved. cruise by cops no problem. You can have a conversation in the car. and, by going to a prochamber, we picked up torque which is what he told me was going to happen. quieter car and added tq.
