Is the installation of the Gen 2R on a 12GT500 the same as installing the Gen2?

Any modification or changes I should be aware of?

Should be. If you don’t have the studs for the EGR, get them. You’ll be happy you did. Also consider having a spare EVAP o ring or the whole sensor on hand. My o ring came out boogered up.

You were right on with the EGR valve...what a major pain in the a$$ that was.

I got the supercharger installed but forgot to "locating dowels".
I am considering removing everything (again) just to put in the locators.

Do you think it will cause issues if I don't have to locators in?

I wouldn’t run it until you got the dowels in. And get the studs for the EGR to save you the headaches.

Why would he need to remove everything just to install the dowels? They are simply there for aligning the supercharger to make bolting it on easier no?

One could argue the same for head dowels too. I personally don’t gamble though either.

True but unless hes having issues I see no reason to take it all apart for something thats likely not needed and not causing anything wrong? Plus its far less important then on a head IMO.

That is the real question...How important are those alignment dowels.
I assumed it is for basic alignment as there is larger open area under the supercharger that does little but push air thru the intercooler.

I would absolutely agree with both of you on head alignment.

Well if it makes you feel any better I installed my FRPP gen 1 TVS on my 2012 without the dowel and had zero issues with anything.

Possible concern without the dowels might be pulley alignment with the FEAD belt

everything is still lined up exactly the same lol, these little shitty hollow dowels are not going throw off the belt alignment that 10 bolts are holding the blower in the same position. There's not enough slop, or play in the bolt holes on the tvs anyways to worry about it being out of line

Thanks for all the input.

I think what I going to do is pull bolts from the front and rear of the SC and make sure the SC is centered in the bolt pads.

Hopefully that will not cause belt alignment issues.
If I find belt residue I will remove the SC and replacing the dowels.

If it makes you feel any better about it there are several threads on gt500 forum about this topic of using the dowels or not and its seems like about half do and half dont, and I have yet to come across anyone with issues from not using them. I did a lot of research on this today lol.

Just for closure.

The Gen2R has been installed as with the many other required mods.
Everything bolted up correctly and aligned fine.
Just waiting on a VMP tune and I will be out on the streets soon.

Thanks for the input guys.

I went without the dowels based upon your experiences and advise.

I saved them and may use them if/when I remove the SC in the future but at the moment I am dowel-less.
