One works great with Carhartt jeans. The other works great with shorts. Neither are too expensive, but are still really well built and can take a beating. Trust me. I use my knives for work as well as basic protection. Both are solid blades. The Cold Steel in particular is as strong as any fixed blade.

I rarely carry a fixed as an EDC, there are many folders that can do a very good job in place of a fixed. I have mostly higher end stuff in both. Go to bladeforums.com. Information and opinions for days.

No, that's terrible advice. If you love a full wallet stay away from bladeforums.com. Stay far, far away.

It's time for a knife thread IMO.

I carry a fixed blade cleaver and a folder on any day that I'm not in dress pants. This is the cleaver. View attachment 1575535

How is that thing useful for anything other than assembling a charcuterie board?

It's extremely useful and much smaller than the pictures suggest. The sheath is designed for horizontal carry therefore it easily fits at the small of my back. Although I carry a folder daily I find myself reaching for the cleaver more time than not.

I have carried a CRKT ignitor for the last 4-5 years and can consistently say it's my favorite EDC.

When I was in Colorado, I have to say, I fell madly in love with a Helle knife. Man they are nice
