I'm not saying the last season was horrific like this one was. I just remember little clues that we were no longer watching the book play out.

For instance, when they all went on the expedition to bring back a White Walker . . . then they were attacked by an undead polar bear . . . no one important dies. Only unnamed "Ensign Gonna Dies" that you didn't even know were there with them until the very moment they were killed. I just remember thinking that it felt a little tv network-ish.

Let's not forget that in that same episode Thoros and Viserion also die, the latter being a huge deal.

Ya I am wondering what ole GRRM told them as guidance. Like did he say ya I got Bran winning the game the rest is up to you or did he say the rest of the Starks are good but the rest dies. Is there a lot more of the Night King that was just too much to have in the show? Also will the out come of the show affect how the rest of the book is written. We may never know.

I thought that they used his notes to help fill in the blanks for the final seasons. Undoubtedly there will be a lot more detail in the books as there always is (if he ever finishes them).

I would bet he never finishes the books, given GRRM's age and poor health (70, supposedly diabetic, morbidly obese) the odds are against him.

He'll die before finishing then his family will sell the outlines to some publisher who will contract out the last books to another author and then people can bitch about the way the last books went just like they have this last season.

Lol

Lol

George has already said his wife would not allow that to happen in the event of his death and he has no children. For better or worse this is probably the ending we get, he basically allowed HBO to write it for him since the TV series outpaced the books.

Night King

Literally BUILT UP from S1E1 as the biggest, baddest ****head in history.

Yet this insane threat to humanity as a whole doesnt compare to a bitter Thunder**** who was forced to walk naked in shame through kings landing.

Oh, ok.

****ing lololol

The great war vs the dead shouldve lasted all season and culminated with the death of the NK by Arya and with Jaime coming to terms with having to kill his uberbitch sister. Jon continues to mercilessly blast Dany to her delight with his nephew silly string. The end.

The Night King was always a side plot. If he was as big and bad as you think he was supposed to be, there would not have been wildlings. Not even everyone in the Nights Watch believed there was a Night King.

But to be honest, I would have preferred that Kings Landing was taken before the war with the Night King (the battle having took place at KL). But again to be honest I would have preferred Ned Stark living longer and some sort of Bran vision back to the days of Valeyria (so?) and dragons wrecking shit.

It's my understanding that GRRM asked the writers of the show who Jon's parents were, they got it right and he gave them the ok for finishing the story

...and Maximus said to Commodus, "the time for honoring yourself will soon come to an end."

I find it hilarious when people say "this is how it should have ended" and then proceed to lay out some even lamer story lol. For one not everyone thinks like you, and for two if you have all these amazing ideas and story lines....why arent you in a position to produce something?? The answer: nobody gives af what you think lol

I wasn't thrilled with the ending, but it was a decent ending, just too rushed. I think it left the possibility open for some great spinoffs too.

I agree. Writing is easy enough so if they think it sucked and they can do better then I would like to see them sit down and write out a new storyline. But they cant because their ideas and "twists" are even more terrible and unimaginative. So instead they just complain.

And before anyone tries to blast me, just keep in mind I was recignized in a state-wide competition in 4th grade for a fictional story I personally wrote lol.

I'm also not convinced that the storyline shouldn't have been reversed . . . Dragon Queen vs. Lanisters first, then move on to the Night King.

Again ... "Winter is Coming" has been the black cloud hanging the whole series while all the politics of squabbling men play out. Feels like the real threat was handled already, and then they have circled back to just another human battle over power.

I disagree. It's Game of Thrones not Game of the Night King. The most important story that has run throughout is who is going to rule, who is going to win the game of thrones.

It means many things. It's the Stark motto. It literally means that the long winter is coming (which are particularly harsh and dangerous for those in the north). It is also a metaphor for the dangers that come with the darkness and the cold, including the Night King and White Walkers, but isn't exclusive to them IMO.

No, GOT is the name of the first book. The series is called "A song of Ice and Fire"

No one believed in Night Kings and White Walkers. They are legends and tails from 10,000 years prior.

Seaons in this world are not measured in months but in years. That's something this season shit the bed with again, as it's suppose to be finally winter in Kings Landing, but there is no indication of that this season.

And THIS series is called Game of Thrones.

I know they didn't believe in them but they are an example of the dangers that come with the darkness.

Saw this meme today and immediately thought of these posts. Lol

I find it even more “hilarious” that unimaginative window licking dumb****s like yourself think “nobody else” can write a better ending because your 2 firing synapses cannot comprehend such a thing.

There are already multiple rewritten scripts from fans out there with a better ending.

Simply put, D&D had the ‘George Lucas’ syndrome in that none of thier ‘yes men’ had the balls to be honest with them and instead lapped up the asspiss that was season 8.

You could literally take the ending i wrote a few posts up and add Sansa sporting Littlefinger's grimy domepiece while sticking a strap-on made of Ghosts lopped off paw into Brans wheelchair spoke to launch him and it would be infinitely better than what we got.
