I am currently running AP Racing radical brakes on my Mustang. While the discs were in storage, they somehow got gouged on the side. Should I replace the disc or continue using it? I am looking at 6 weeks for replacement discs from AP Racing. I am also planning on doing 3 HPDEs within the next 4 weeks.

I would smooth it up a bit just so the sharp edge doesn’t happen to cause irregular wear on the pad and run with it.

They should be fine, keep an eye on them between sessions to make sure it's not going to create a stress fracture.

This. Any sharp edges are potential heat stress risers, so definitely keep an eye on them, but they should be fine.

I'd smooth it down so the surface is flat and not gouging the pad in any way then replace the pads and rotor, but you may want to replace all the front or rear pads and rotors depending on what end it is on so the wear is even again, but I guess that depends on how much you have used them and how much life you have left on the pads.

You could gently re-chamfer that edge with a die grinder. That gouge isn't enough to affect that rotor structurally or even balance-wise. Good call on asking though. I'm interested to see what others think as well

I agree with this.

Thanks everyone. I will just file it down and keep a watch on it.

I pulled them off when I had my calipers repowdercoated and rebuilt. I just got them back this morning

That's more than a gouge and to damage a rotor like that it must have taken quite a wack. That grey portion (boogered up) is made of what?
