Lots of good idea.

Looks like I am going Gen II or Gen III Coyote.

Anyone have a Ford Performance Distributor they like better than the rest?

your wasting your time and money on a coyote
the top end is weak and will fail at the track. period.
the block is also weak and cant compare to the teksid, not even even with the FP race block .
or a sleeved block.
A teksid block is the absolute strongest short deck modular block on the planet.

coyote heads are weak and fail often in all venues.
even with the vct cams removed or locked out.

the Nemak heads found in the GT car / shelby gt500 / 2000 cobra R / fr500c are the best heads hands down. and they are not as popular as coyote and can be had for less than coyote stage 3 race heads! but they are better for any track or race engine. They out perform coyotes out of the box.

these heads fit your engine and not the coyote.

the coyotes need to be rebuilt to race, even the aluminator.

only the xs is track worthy and thats why it lists at $19,000.

the XR3Z cobra block with GT heads will even out perform the XS with matching components.

then there is electronic controls

another can of worms for the coyote racer.

serious racers (coyote and mod) chuck the ford package for better control and a real throttle link.

FAST, HOLLEY, MOTEC, BIG STUFF, MSD ETC.

Pus you can have an emissions tune and street tune and track tunes to shred any bed.

in the long run the coyote will cost you more to make the tractable day in / day out power you need. a lot more since you dont have a coyote car.

otherwise your just playin games.

Distributor? MSD, with a Fast Box Attached.

how much do you want for your 99 cobra track car?

lets see some pics...

Good points and ones I am considering. I dont "race" this car. I use it primarily for HPDE events as my instructor car. The 24 month warranty from Ford is appealing and the Coyote Gen 3 is a nice platform for my use.

fifteen grand for 100 lb ft ?

you could do an aluminuum 5.4 for less and easy 200 lb-ft. no blower, eat coyotes for lunch, even flat planes...

do something different, ever thought about a ttrans axle swap, with a 5.4 set back up front, tthen youd have something, supercar.

put that on BaT, 50k sorted and street legal.

ford wont warranty a track car anyway.

HPDE

High Performance Driving Event

Not racing.

Gen 3 460HP w/o headers or tune. add E85 and I have a reliable 500HP+ NA. 20 Year newer engine development, street legal, passes CA SMOG.

Looks like new parts build although I havent ruled out a take out package on a low mile car.

Stay tuned and thank you for all the input.

The Ford 4.6 block in the 05-?10? is the 4.6 aluminator. It was built with the help of cosworth.
Livernois considers it the best 4.6 block and it takes the 4v heads and all just fine.
It is essentially a copy of the teksid with cosworth aluminum metal technology.

The 01-03 ford WAP block built the bad rep for ford because it was weaker than the teksid that it replaced for a short time, but it is not a bad block either.

Livernois considers it the best 4.6 block cuz it's the FOMOCO replacement block for all 4.6 hi-po svt/ford cars and its in stock, ie cheap. Nemak tookover Teksid years ago ending production of the "best blocks" abruptly, pissed off Fomoco. Cosworth has many success and failures under thier belts. and they dont mind doin stuff on the cheap. you get what you pay for. look at the complete history with ford. look at the new Aston Ford Cosworth v12.
anywho i say the late teksid is the strongest and accufab is proof. l think they hold the record for
highest specific power output
of any automotive engine in history
(production block) , HORSEPOWER PER CUBIC INCH.
Was previously held by GM/OLDS/FEULING turbo 4 with over 1,270 hp from 121 cubic inches. at 281 ci that Accufab mustang must be making 2,800+ to run those numbers. (all year long same block!)

Your car reads wicked, curious if you know lb-ft. at crank or tire?

ps. Cosworth was involved with the Olds project.

Just read this thread but sounds like just looking for a fun street HPDE Car.
I’m assuming limited street miles?
What fuel? You have a smaller high RPM V8 either Modular or Coyote, so octane needs to be your friend as a fun track NA engine should be minimum 12:1 on E85 or unleaded race fuel.
Hard to discount the Gen 3 Coyote or Aluminator, both at 12:1. Car probably would have better resale with the Coyote swap and keeping the stock motor.
I would think the TiVCT would help midrange torque on the road course.
But so could a stroker 5.3 modular.
Other than VCT and ease of new parts, peak power will likely be similar, but the whole Ford aftermarket is now Coyote.
400rwhp NA sounds like your goal for a fun track motor you could still drive on the street.

Are there any direct comparative tests between the aluminator and the and teksid holding more power? I have a teksid in mine..but want to "someday" go BB stroker with another block.

2/3s plus of the miles are logged driving to the track. HPDE are 20-30 minute tops sessions. It is not racing. Car handling is fantastic just underpowered for the weight for a road course car.

So does that mean you don’t drive it on the street much?
Your biggest goal is just more power right?
Are you willing to run E85 or higher octane unleaded race fuel?

Only street miles are to and from socal tracks.

Yes, plan is to run E85 if we go Gen 3. As of today Gen 3 is the leading option. If I score a great deal on a Gen 2 package (trans/engine/controlpack) I may go Gen 2.

Yes, more power.

just remembered Jim Feuling(sp) also designed the 05 + mustang GT 3 valve head and sold to fomoco,
the plug idea was fords, go figure? and yes that is the "aluminator" block in 05+ GT's designed to take all heads, the over the dealer counter replacement block, FPP not needed

just wondering how a stock 2000 R with only the block switched to aluminum and an e85 tune, might compare to your genlll and genll builds with 85 and tune, on the track? all three on the pole...

With Gen 3 you get a lighter motor (no sleeves), dual injection, factory "ported" gt350 heads, stronger block than gen 1-2, more compression (12:1), and 12mm studs vs. 11mm in Gen 2.

Gen 3 is the future. There are guys who have made 500whp spinning to 8k rpm with easy bolt ons. They make power so easy its ridiculous.

Someone said the coyote has "no top end" and i laughed out loud. What an idiotic statement that is.
