Just got a text from the wife that a Ford representative just came by the house to get me to bring the 2013 in for airbag replacement.

At first we thought "scam", but it turns out that Ford, Honda, and Toyota are all going door to door now to get people to complete the recall.

Guess I'll be taking it in when I get back in town.

I was speaking with our district rep regarding the airbag recall (honda) and was told the same thing. They have hired a team of people with their sole purpose of getting the older cars (referred to alpha vins) into the dealers. They go door to door and offer free tows, free rentals basically whatever they can do to get these taken care of.

The last death happened recently and the owner had been notified 22 times including someone knocking on his door and he still refused to have the recall done. He sold the car to someone who didn't realize there was a recall, and they were killed in a minor accident 2 weeks later. Honda didn't even have enough time to realize the car had changed owners and notify the new owner.

We were told on alpha vins there's now a 50% chance of rupture in the even of an accident. It's no joke. After hearing that I basically forced my brother to get his done the next day because he had been putting it off.

My wife was in a rental for just over 6 month last year for the airbag recall. She drives a 2010 Fusion SE, which of course is nothing special, so when Ford offered to put her in a free brand new car for whatever the timeframe for parts to come in was - it was a no brainer for us!

I haven't taken my '16 Edge in yet, mainly because I'm at the end of my lease and I'll let the dealership do it when I turn the vehicle in (about 1-2 weeks from now). I didn't know that they've hired a firm to go door to door.

How will the passenger side airbag get changed on my 2012 Boss 302?

Go up thru the glovebox ??

The drivers side already got changed, I’ve gotten four notices over the winter for the pass side. The car is off the road for the winter, going to re register it next week and then make an appointment.

Are the parts in finally? Need to get both in the Stang replaced.

Sent from my Note9

They are readily available. There might be some delays in getting certain part numbers as Ford transitions from having them ship directly from the vendor to dealers, to having them stocked in the PDCs.

Any body know how easy or difficult the passenger side air bag is to change? I've been ignoring the messages in the mail just because I don't want some douche tech working on my car. Im paranoid to have my mint car out of my sight.

Not here they're not...

Just bought a 2011 Ranger from a FORD dealer who had the truck on their lot for six weeks, they never replaced the air bag and sold it to me with an open recall. I brought it home and had it done within a couple weeks, would have been done sooner but the first dealer scheduled an appointment, then ran out of bags before my appointment.

I don't drive with passengers in the car. My drivers side was done long ago... reason Ive hesitated to bring it in for the other side is due to not trusting our local Dealer to do much of anything right. Especially if the dash has to come apart to get it replaced. Thats why I asked the question and since it just sits in the garage anyway and is hardly ever driven, it is a low priority to me.

Ouch. Did a technician touch you in the no-no spot?

Also, i told the dealer if they are going to do burnouts in my GT500 during the recall to do it right, use the line lock and tag me on instagram. :D
