Anyone in here went active USMC to national guard? I was an 0311/grunt in the Marines and really miss messing around with the gear and Military lifestyle in general. Fortunately I have a really good job as a financial analyst now so I don't want to give that up and go active again. no kids or wife ( that I know of). Thinking of going into the national guard. I still run/workout 6 days a week so physical isn't a problem. Anyone done what I am thinking of doing?

Seems counterproductive to me. Just get involved with local vets and hit the range on your own time if that's what you want. If I wanted back in, the Guard is the last place I'd look. I do know several other Marines that went that way though, they weren't unhappy per se, but they did always laugh at the Guard life and say how easy it is.

How old are you? No way in hell would I join the guard as an infantryman. However, if I could get in to a niche job (ie something that you could see yourself doing on the outside, or as a hobby), then use the guard to get you there.

People don't understand the feeling even people I know who were in tell me im a tard for doing it just something I have to do. Luckily my wife understands and supports me.

USMC Reserves or nothing in my opinion. I’ve heard too many stories about how nasty and undisciplined the National Guard is. Plus, after wearing the USMC dress blues, I could never imagine putting on another branch’s uniform.

There is a Marine Reserve Infantry Company in Johnson City, TN. They are always looking for people.
I think it's Lima Co 3/25.
