as you can see in the pictures above there is a huge difference in the size of the opening and the overall design which makes a pretty big difference in the CFM capability. The Accufab is rated at almost 1,700 CFM, the factory unit is likely closer to 700 or maybe 800 on the high end.

Actually when comparing factory unit other similar (dual port TB), the numbers do match. Eg:
05-10 mustang have 2x55mm, flowing 890CFM
KB has TB with 2x75mm, flowing 1880CFM.
So when using those as reference and do the math, 2x57mm flows about 1000CFM

Either way i think those numbers are irrelevant, eg it is more about how much CFM engine needs and is intake able to provide it. Eg 1000CFM requires that 4.6L engine is running with 16psi boost. So unless hitting 15psi+, in theory you should be good with factory unit.

Just my 50cents.

i spoke with the Tuner i was planning on using and he (Lidio at Alternative) told me that it didn't matter if i left the IAT in the factory spot or relocated it as he would tune for higher inlet temps based on past experience with tuning the b headed cobra motors with a Kenne Bell. I didn't really take any pics of my setup when i had it apart but i do have a couple pics of the modified inlet if i can find them i will post them up.

Wirelessguy, did you tap your manifold for the iat? Also, do you have pics of your setup?

painted the inlet up after all the work was finished and it blends in with the kenne bell just about perfect.

the motor is all factory stock with about 36,000 original miles on the clock. It does have an X Pipe with flowmasters and i also added the JLT cold air as well as the throttlebody from Accufab. The car is making 11 lbs of boost and tuned on e85. Unfortunately i was never able to finish my original dyno session due to a bad set of ford performance plug wires. I plan to dyno it again soon, my guess is really close to 500 rwhp.

Sounds about right. My auto Mach on E85 with only 13.75* of timing and 11.6psi out of a Vortech V1 S makes 508/436. X pipe and Flowmasters too.

After removing those bosses, how did you insert those two bolts to attach SC plate to intake manifold?..Or did you simply leave them out?

Hmm, I would understand if you would have removed totally this gap where throttle bracket mounts (since probably it can restrict air flow), eg like venom1997 did here:
https://www.svtperformance.com/attachments/image_4-jpg.666388/

But i don't understand what is benefit what you did? ..or maybe picture angle not clear to show everything.

Also you did not extend behind from SC neck, eg: https://www.svtperformance.com/attachments/image_2-jpg.666387/ Only simply removing the bosses was enough give additional 4lbs boost?

Either way, good work :)

Cut the bosses out and threaded the holes to install pipe plugs, 1/2" on the bottom and 3/4" up top. That way you can install the bolts for the back of the plenum cover and then install the pipe plugs to close off the inlet. We found a gain of almost 6lbs of boost with the work we did so there was no reason to extend the back of the inlet.

I am currently running 11lbs of boost with e85 and considering going up a couple more lbs. I looked into running meth with e85 and everyone I spoke with didn't recommend that combo.

Me and another guy were talking about it and he said just e85 and put an iat post fuel injector to get a reading with an actual cylinder temp.

Just wonder if it would be enough with 10.5:1 or more compression
