Is machine finish any different than anodized for lower pulley?

Hi,
I have a line on a Metco#4 lower. Seller sent me photo and it is not black.
Is there any performance difference between machine finish and anodized for lower pulley?

No difference, one can be polished and sealed the other is anodized. You can anodize your machine polished one if you want.

I thought I read somewhere the anodized ones have better grip on belt?

I've never heard that. If it were true people would be only using anodized upper pulleys vs. machined/polished.

You want a hard anodized finish where the belt rides or over time the belt will wear the aluminum. I had all my 4lb caged lower pulleys hard anodized for this reason.
