You not gonna get much love with that title . :p

haha nothing wrong with that. I have done tons and tons of research on this swap. It may be my next move. The whole engine is a few inches taller but depending on a good number of things I think there is a strong chance you can get it under a stock hood. Depending what K-member, if you are willing to do spacers, and what blower is on top. The saddest day for my cobra is when we spend about 2 months trying to get the 3.6L to fit under the stock hood and just couldn't do it safely and had to go aftermarket hood.

I have a complete 5.8 with a Ported TVS/billet rod that Im thinking of dropping into my Terminator ,I ran a 9.90 @143 with when it was stock and Im wondering what it would run in my 04 Cobra ,just an idea right now but definitely want to keep my stock hood

I would have definitely dropped that puppy in by now if it were mine lol. That motor (5.8 Trinity) in a Terminator is all I dream about some times but dropping the money most want for a used stock take out one just isn’t in the cards unfortunately. Especially since I would turn around and build it up afterwards.

how much more is a 5.8 worth hp wise over a 5.4? if i wanted a tall deck mod motor, i'd use a navigator 5.4. i'd probably take the easy road and either procharge or turbo it.

my point is that .4L isn't a big enough difference in displacement to really matter. navigator engines are a lot more common, so would be a good choice IMO.

Navigator blocks are also iron. I’m dead set on an Aluminum block. I already have a brand new unused Aluminator 4.6 block and a brand new never used set of Roush ported DC 4v heads I’m building my new motor with. However an Aluminum 5.8 (or 5.4) build with GT 500 heads would have been my first choice but like I mentioned the cost of a used take out motor is just still to high and then turn around and rebuild it.

I am with you on this one. I want an Aluminum block. I need the width of a 5.4L, and the GT500 heads have proved to make gobs more power than the 03-04 heads even ported. If it was me and I had this engine I would of too done it already. I have debated selling my other two project cars to make this happen.

Back to your original question I have seen people fit some huge 5.4L setups under stock GT hoods with the correct combo of K-member, clocking the hydroboost, and kmember spacers. Our hood is a smidgen taller so would think it would be a bit easier as long as down the road you don't realize it would be better to go twin screw.

Pair that with a Holley dominator and now we’re talking. Better everything in an iconic body style. I’d call that a win.

Weight is the biggest reason for me. The more weight off the front end the better.
Lighter car = faster car with the same power
Lighter front end = Better weight transfer
Better weight transfer = Better traction
Better traction = Faster ET

Some people will then argue to just add more boost to make more power to compensate for the weight.
Which in turn adds more stress to the motor and driveline which = less reliable.

That’s my reasoning

No hydro boost ,going manual on the brakes ,as much as I do want to throw the 5.8 GT500 motor into my Cobra I dont think there is enough clearance in between the pan and kember to lower the motor and Im not good with putting a 2 in spacer in between the k member and chassis ,either way the engine bay is ready

Don’t think you will need 2” Kmember spacer. Like I said one guy did it with 1” and a GT hood. Our hood is taller than a GT hood by I think 2”. So you may not need one.

Why? Why not use a better blower? You could use a GT500 stock blower or a Kenne Bell, tvs or Whipple.

Ya but the Cobra motor is very easy to max out. Max on a cobra motor 900-1000 on twin screws. Max on a GT500 is over 1500rwhp.
