It's really grown on me too. I get to see them weekly at Ford...The Dark red with white stripes is my favorite color so far.

Indeed it is

Would it be too much to ask for some clear underhood shots of the rain tray?

I'm interested in seeing how Ford shaped/trimmed it as well as how much airflow it obstructs when in place. I assume since this is a track event that the tray(s) would be removed to allow for maximum airflow...

Yup, looks bad ass, except for that wing.
And speaking of "ass", I'm not a big fan of the overall ass of the GT-500. Maybe it's that spoiler in large part, but the rear (at least in that photo) looks stubby. That spoiler is horrible. In that first photo, though, I love the front clip. Ford nailed the front end. And other aspects of the car. Overall, I'm a fan. Just not really loving the rear end.

Huge fan, love the rear. Then again, after spending last season surrounded by GT4 Mustangs in the IMSA Continental series, I have a lot of respect for the hardware that allows these cars to put down the power at speed on the track. The wings is much more than a Cars and Coffee piece that offers little in terms of performance. Rather, it is all about performance.

And it looks like Ford is either proving out a future Ford Performance part or this may actually show up production cars (which I doubt) - a passenger side oil separator.

Seen it at fabulous fords, and I'm not sold. Seen the interior, and I loved it (as I do all the S550 interiors) til I almost at the sight of that damn DCT. Shelby would be pissed. Overall looks are a 6/10 for me. I'll support it because it's a Mustang, but it's in the category of the fox body to me. Just not attractive, but still family. Just hope it beats the redeye on the strip. I dont care too much for the turns.

Actually Shelby would most definitely support it. Why? Because it gives best performance potential.
Also, his personal Cobra roadster was an auto.
So, regardless if you think this car must have a true manual and that this is what Shelby would have wanted, that is not correct logic.

Just because HE himself had a auto doesnt mean anything because all the Shelbys from 07-14 had manuals. I like autos, but not for my racecar. He could've put autos in any of the Shelbys he had the last say in. And to add to my manual preference I wouldn't mind the auto if they ALSO had the option of manual.

Again not true.
The current ‘07-14 Shelby GT500 are probably the least ‘Shelby’ of all his cars as by that point he was really just licensing his name on Ford SVT Cars.
The early Shelby Mustangs all had Auto options. SVT Mustangs from ‘93 to current have all had only one trans option; all conventional manual until the current DCT.
So, really doesn’t make sense to say Shelby would be against the new DCT, as he was fine with offering autos or whatever was the best performance option.
Plus, low volume cars like this can’t afford to offer multiple trans options, so I’m fine with offering the best optional available.
We shall see if it hurts sales without a manual. My money is on it actually helping.

Licensing his name? whether that's true or not he still had MAJOR input into the build of the cars. If these are the least "shelby", then again why didnt he say let's put a 6R80(or whatever auto could've been built for the GT500) into these cars to make them "more Shelby"? Lol. I'm not a fan of autos for racing. Yea they're better in performance for consistency, but to each their own. Like I said I'll support since it's in the mustang family.

If that’s what you believe, I won’t burst your bubble.
My dad has a first year GT500 (Auto) and while I’m glad Carroll’s last input was on my ‘14 model, I definitely do not consider his input on the SVT designed car as MAJOR.
We can agree to disagree.
