Im curious on the mm coilovers. Ive never had coilovers in any of my car and i would like to put them on on 03. was the process dificult? any suggestions?

I have them all the way around on my car. I went from H&R Race springs to a 300/475 combo. Install wasn't that bad. But I already had MM caster/camber plates. So it was just a matter of removing old springs, assembling coilovers, and re-installing. It took me a few hours to get all four done. And that includes pulling the driver side apart 3 times due to installer (me) error. I did find that the dust boots for the struts didn't fit inside the springs. So I left them off. The next hardest part was getting it adjusted where I wanted it and making it level. That required pulling a tire, making an adjustment, lowering it back down, then rolling it back and forth a few times for the tires to settle. I'm close to where I want it, but I'm waiting to finish some other things before dropping it anymore.

And to me the ride is similar to the H&R's. In fact more than once I forgot I had done the coilovers until I hit a turn. The car feels more stable and planted to me.

has anyone tried the 99-01 cobra springs in the 03-04, i spoke with eibach rep and he mentioned the coils used to be the same, but they were finding the 3590.140 part number was dropping the front on average of 2"

so they changed the spring rate in a newer kit which is the 3594.140 eibach pro kit

just wondering if any one has the older kit in a 03-04 SVT

That would make sense. The 99/01's don't have near as much weight over the front. No blower and an aluminum block will make a big difference.

I'll probably let a shop do mine as I may not feel like messing with it lol.

They're aren't any shops I trust around here. Well, I don't really trust shops in general. I'm seriously thinking about getting the stuff to do my own alignments.

I feel ya on that. I used to and still when i take my car places, I stand behind the garage door or line and periodically watch. I really don't take my car in for many things though as I do most things I can myself. I'm kind of changing a little bit in the regard of doing certain things. Some I will tackle and others I will just let someone or a shop do. I have a few guys who I trust to work on my car; they work out of their homes.

What made you decide to go with that combo? just out of curiosity.

Sports sit fairly low in the front and race sits pretty high in the rear. Thats going to make a pretty big rake, unless you are moving some ISO's around.

That's the game I'll likely play. I do like rake, but mainly because race are a stiffer spring, so hopefully that'll help with the squat when the car is under load and help keep from tire rubbing and such.

As for me with both of my cars, my 95 and the Terminator when I get it, I will have the same stereo setup with one 10 inch sub in trunk (35-50 lbs) and so will have to consider all of that when setting up my suspension. Both will get front coilovers and I'll have to see what the cobra has done to it when I get it. The 95 I just bought is lowered and as of right now sits too low. Maybe when I put the 18's on it the height will be acceptable but will have to see. The 95 has in rear about a 3 1/2 finger gap while the front has around 3- 3 1/4, somewhere in between. I do like that but there's no speaker box in the rear right now. My other 95's setup has eibachs and one thing I've learned from the way I used to think is to that having adjustability is better than settling for what the height will be after springs.

So for me it's a no brainer to at the least have coil overs on the fronts on each car. Like I said having 35-50 lbs extra in the trunk of each car will be explained to MM when I call them again about options. I will probably leave the car alone until I do the 351 so I will see how much weight after the motor change and everything to try and match things up better. I also now try to do things in order of how they make the most sense overall.

Don't have to mention adjustability to me. I've had numerous coil overs for different cars, and a couple air ride setups. But I'm pretty confident this will give me what I want for now until I do the big suspension push.

yeah i forgot to mention that either rake or level is cool with me, but definitely not like with my wrecked 95 how the rear sat lower mainly because of the box. Hell actually even right now with the box out of it it's lower than the front still.

Are you saying you prefer the route you went with the HR race and sports together better than adjustability?

Fill me in on the positives and negatives of having coil overs? I'll more than likely just run them on the front of my cars. Also, I know talking to MM, they said and I believe in any case no matter what kit you go with, they are strut/shock specific to the kit ??? In my case and a few yrs prior and not many miles put on, I had just went to Tokiko HP Blues shocks and struts on the wrecked car and so didn't want to do away with that to get more shocks and struts. Now that the car is wrecked and bought another, I feel different about starting over with the one I bought though it's lowered and has a good stance now. I'll have to see once motor is in and I put the 18s on how it sits and if it's too low

^Nice looking stance.
Thanks man.
That pic is what helped me decide to go with the race's. I will be picking up my car on Friday and will post up pics.

I'm happy it helped someone decide. I'd wait to post a pic because those springs took about two weeks to settle on mine.

They were installed a little over a week ago so hopefully they settled some. Haven't had my car for 2 weeks so I'm going to whore the hell out of her.

I hear that I'm trying to drive mine a little more before she goes up for the winter.

Thinking about lowering my cobra i bought the springs before I bought the car last year but still on the fence about it .
Will it scrape ? Is it really going to improve handling?
I’m happy with the handling but I know it looks good lower .
Is really worth it ??

What brand springs did you grab and will you be wanting to utilize ISO’s? That will help answer most of your questions.

I bought slightly used HR race springs even though didn’t take the time to think that they cane off a very , mine is a coupe .
Now I know there is a difference so if I go ahead I would buy the rears made for coupes .
I don’t know about the iso I don’t want to be too low, I like the car just sitting slightly above the wheels like 1”.5 above .
