Well my passenger side airbag is finally complete. Easy job done by a head tech that came right to my house.
Great guy, Job, Glad It’s done!

I did a search to see what I could find about the passenger side air bag recall and didn't come up with anything other than 1 post. I received a letter from Ford a few months ago and yesterday I received notice that the parts are in and I can schedule an appointment. Wondering, anyone else go through this? If so, what is the length of time it takes for them to swap it out? I did have my driver's side replaced and it was taken care of in about 15 minutes with perfect results. My car is a 13 DIB, stripe delete, glass roof and all options car with appx 4K on the odometer.
I got the recall notice for passenger side air bag about 15 times this last year. Calls and letters. Ford sent a repair tech to my home and fixed it in about 35 minutes. Free of charge to me. I am well pleased because I would have never carried it in to be “test driven” by the dealer. I live in gainesville GA. If you call ford and request, Im sure they will do it for any owner. They came out and did mine on 10/21/2019. I read somewhere that someone was worried about them messing up the Carroll Shelby signature trim. They dont even touch it. They remove the glove box and access it from there.

Air bag recalls are being pushed HARD by every manufacturer. Its a big big big big big big big liability for them. Even though ultimate responsibility is on the now insolvent Takata for such an epic failure of engineering, the manufacturers are the first point of contact to remedy the issue and also if something goes wrong. No one in the industry wants to go what Honda went through.

I also had mine done a few weeks ago (both as driver side was never done) and they came to my house. Local dealerships’s top Lincoln tech was super careful while I babysat. Both sides done in 45mins to an hour.

And yes they do the passenger side all from through the glovebox.

What does Ford do if your dash has a Carroll Shelby signature?

A friend just had the passenger side airbag recall accomplished on his 2013 GT Premium and has been complaining about the fit and fair of the airbag door in the dash. He also says that with light pressure the door will pop open now.

In the last three pics there looks like a shallow dent in the lower door too, near the upper edge a few inches from the LH side.

I haven't had the passenger side done yet, may have 8 or 12 mailing reminders by now. I've also had several phone calls, one yesterday, which are starting to annoy me. I tried to tell the women on the phone that I'll get to it, it doesn't get driven much, so I don't see it as an issue. The fact that it took years to get the parts for the driver side, tells me how much of a rush item it was.
Interesting that post # 66 had work done @ his house on Ford's dime, didn't know they did that..

Yeah, its great. Just call the one of the many Ford airbag postcards they send and tell them you want yours done at your house if you want. One of the cards I received actually says they come right to your house for specialty Mustangs: Boss 302, Shelby, Bullitt's. It takes some time from making the appt until they coordinate with a local dealer (month or so), but they make it happen. They asked for my availability and gave them a day I was working from home. They called a few days before to confirm the date and time frame. They were right at my house at 1pm as promised.

Yep. The tech that came and did mine said they had to start going mobil for the recall, because (and I quote him) “none of you shelby guys will bring your cars in for this repair!”

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this thread. My wife forbade me from driving the car until the passenger side was done. So the car sat for a good 6-8 weeks, battery died and I think a spider or two enjoyed setting up a home under the car. So embarrassing that the battery died. I felt like someone should just come and take my keys as I was unworthy...and then I read this thread and I felt better. My car is now at the dealer and they're taking care of it. I have a signed airbag cover so I'm glad to hear they do it through the glovebox.

Thanks for the entertainment and the online support group. I'll be glad to not get any more notices and calls! They even called my wife and that's what put her over the edge!
