I did this battery and mount almost 2 years ago and it is still working like a charm.

I had this battery on my old Boss 302. I only drove the car once a week, once every 2 weeks sometimes. Car always turned over quick and it seemed like the battery never lost juice! Even brand new, a Motorcraft battery didn't do this. If doing it again, I might go with the larger style like @BAS has just so I could keep the factory tray.

My car sat ALOT last summer, due to it being a RAINY SHITTY year. Anytime I went to start it though, it worked great. I have always charged it before it sits for winter and unhooked both the cables. If I had to do it again, I would probably go with the larger size and keep the stock battery tray. I don't think that was an option back when I bought these 2 years ago?

If I ever got a light weight battery I plan to fab an aluminum bracket that mounts the battery directly to the firewall. Frees up more space cause the tray is removed and puts the battery as far back as possible.

There was a larger size available when I did this over a year ago, and it fit the stock tray. But it was much more expensive. I haven't checked the pricing recently, so that may still be the case.

I do remember that a larger battery was available, now that you jogged my memory. I sorta remember is being quite a bit more expensive than the little battery and the mount, so I went the cheaper of the 2 routes. Every year I change something on this car, just to keep it FRESH! Never planning on getting rid of it!

Okay.....I'm a convert :) ! My battery is '13 OEM. Why wait for issues.

Here's the link for the ATX30 on Amazon $360.

Here's the terminal XS Power 580 terminal adapters. $17

ps: Sorry...from my end it appears without links despite Edit.

Purchased the ATX30 and dropped it in yesterday. Car started instantly and ran great. Then of course....I discovered the disclaimer on not using the Restart battery on Fords. Oh-Oh ! I will research this further during the week. Perhaps I should have considered the Non-Restart ATX12-24.

What car are you running Jam421? I read a LOT of background material on this and concluded it was only in relation to 2015+ Fords when they started using complex battery management. There are ways of configuring the car to switch off this BM through Forscan etc. but not needed on the S197

A quick update on this now we’ve been for a few runs in the car.

I am experiencing some electrical issues - mainly the peripherals in the car such as stereo, Bluetooth and the dash. What seems to happen is that they all go through initialization randomly. Not quite at the level of rebooting the Nav completely but enough to be annoying. Doesn’t get in the way of driving the car though.

Put the car on forscan and identified a code showing over voltage on the car. Reset the code and will monitor. Read elsewhere that there is a way to log the battery as the FordGT battery which may solve this. Will look into it further if the issue persists

Update on the Lithium Antigravity in the S197.

It doesn’t work

Went for a track day the other day and the damn electrics kept dropping out. I believe that there is an issue with the voltage stability. Either too high or too low. I went through forscan and found codes for too high voltage, but on track the car would lose electrics when on ABS or other high demands. Had issues through acceleration and braking sections.

The car still worked and I had a fab time at the track but I need to get to the bottom of this issue with the voltage variability. The full cluster would go and then come back.

Will update if I find a solution

Sorry to hear your having bad luck with the ATX30.

From all my research the general consensus seems to be Ford vehicles have charging issues with “restart” technology LiPo batteries. People who have run the ATX-20/YTX-20 which doesn’t have “restart” technology don’t have issues.

BAS....as we were talking via PM's....I also tried the ATX-30 Antigravity battery. Sorry I did not post the results sooner. After conversation with the company owner I was convinced to return the ATX-30. I installed in one day earlier and just did a trial idle test. No Problem. But I was advised the Restart Battery would cause problems with our electrical systems and that a new late model Mustang/GT500 Lithium Anti-Gravity will be introduced soon. SOooo...I will wait to see the price of the newer Lithium battery design.

I've done the Odyssey PC680 battery now pushing 2 years, it has worked good so far. I usually stick it on the trickle charger when I know I won't be driving the car for a while (like during winter storage).

I've gone about 5 days without having it on the charger and it will start my car no problem, but if I go longer than that what I've found is that the engine will crank slow but will still start up, however my odometer goes back to imperial measurements (my car is always set to metric measurements) and my shocks go to sport mode.

I find the Odyssey battery is just enough for this car powerwise, ALA you keep it on a smart charger it is just like stock battery wise. If you DD your car you shouldn't have any issues with this battery and most likely don't even need to keep it on a charger when not driving the car.

Tony

Here's a pic of the battery in my 500, the top plate here is my cardboard mockup, the battery is now held down with a 1/8" alum. plate shaped like that cardboard.

New ATX30-HD. I wrote to Antigravity just curious if they got to manufacture a Litium Battery without Restart Feature. They said "We now have a new version of the ATX30 available. It is the ATX30-HD. It comes with over-discharge protection, but no Restart feature, so it allows for a deeper draw. It is compatible with your GT500. " NOT CHEAP at $560. But does have 970CCA & weighs 7.81lbs.

Nice! This new model has cranking amps and lead equivalent reserve capacity at or above most 96R type batteries.

ATX-30HD - 970CCA & 48 amp hour
BXT96R-590 - 590CCA and 45 amp hour

Will have to keep an eye out for reviews on how well it performs. @Jam421 are you going to get this new model?

Thats awesome. I reverted to a classic battery after having issues. Will reach out to Antigravity to see if they will take an exchange! I’ll be in the US early August - hopeful!!

Hey BAS...Yeah ...we PM'd a bunch of times and I was with you on that ATX30 purchase.
My ATX30 was installed pre-season with just a few starts, no driving for 2 days when I returned it for Visa credit.
@Jam421 are you going to get this new model?
Merky....strongly considering the ATX30HD as I'm on my original 2013 battery.
But...my original battery has not been a problem all season. On one hand I'm not looking to mess with what's working at this time LOL!
But unless I get impulsive ( again!) I'm planning on winter storing with my OED Battery then dropping in the ATX 30 HD April/May. I know....I should just by the darn thing . I'm retired but the $560 is not an issue....I like the extra CCA's + losing 24lbs up front for what little it's worth.

Just bought an ATX20-HD off Amazon with 900 CCA weight = 5lbs. Non-Restart so safe with our ECU's on Amazon for $359.
But Anti-Gravity has a sale thru tomorrow at 25% off $399 which = $319. Anti-gravity wanted $18 for shipping to my NY area so that would've been around $338.00.
Okay..now for the bite. The Lithium charger was an additional $60. :)->).
Fellas....I will advise after a few weeks on charge vs recharge after around town stops .
