thank you brother, this helps me. What are your thoughts on st petersburg area? Also, what about new port richey area ?

What are your thoughts on st petersburg area? ....Basically Clearwater in my mind. My question for you would be are you looking for beach properly, or simple a under a 20 minute drive to the beach? St Pete, glancing at Google maps is like 8 miles by 6 miles. I'm sure there's good and bad or new and old areas in there. Specifically what's good/bad, I couldn't tell you, but anything there will be 20 minutes so some of the best beaches in FL.

Also, what about new port richey area ?....Never been up there. Just south of there, Tarpon Springs is the highest percentage of Greeks in the US per city. If you love greek food, that's a great place to stop by sometime.

I was going to suggest this for every reason he wants except one.

No real beaches on the keys.

I’m looking at Naples for our move.
Too expensive there.
Anna Marie Island is a hidden gem. Our of my retirement price range unless someone buys my kids and offs my wife.
Nice, but Sarasota expensive.
Check out the Madeira Beach area. I lived up there for a while, but haven't up that way in forever.
My area is reasonable, but I'm at least 1 hour to the water. Check out the Englewood area of Charlotte and Sarasota county areas. @nxhappy
This whole area is absolutely exploding with growth, actually too much too fast. The infrastructure can't keep up with it.

im in jupiter. real nice beach town area, it is getting more and more crowded every year tho.

Just wait till the Beacon Park and Hawkeye developments ever get going. Will bring even more jobs/people.

Not going to be a beach feeling town much longer imo.

My Grand Parents had a house in Englewood. Dad owns it now and hopefully me after him. I have been going down there for 40 years now. It was the small beach town , quiet, mostly old people. It has blown up in the 10 years years or so. Lots more traffic up and down 776. I still love it there tho. Couple hours form Orlando, a hour from Bradenton for some racing.

I do not mind driving to the beach. Even 30min-1 hour is ok. However the clearwater area looks very nice. St petersburg is super close to a lot of nice beaches.
I have been to Greece, I frickin love Greek food.

Civil engineers and contractors are going to capitalize off of that if the local economy can support it

Yeah. We were right on the bay near Johns Pass. You could walk across the street to the gulf, and be out in it by boat in 5 minutes. That was a really long time ago though, and I've only been back once maybe 8-10 years ago.

^yes and no. Winter is great, summer is hell (literally). its become more and more overcrowded over the years, moved down here in 05 from chicago. The water and beaches are great. If you find a nice town that doesnt get trampled by tourists, you will be fine. otherwise more heavily visited areas are a pain.

Definitely the keys. Want a beach? Go to Bahia Honda State Park.

I was down in Key West a couple weeks ago, and cannot wait to go back.

My gf parents escape to big pine key every winter. They have a rental pad for their rv and boat. her father never wants to come home.

The summer heat sucks but overall I enjoy living here.
At least for South Florida, it's not too hard to find out where the weird people hang out, and where to avoid them. Don't really run into rude people either. Most I meet are nice enough, unless you cut them off or some shit.

I used to live in Palm Beach County but went a tad north to get cheaper land/homes.
Dunno if I'll live here forever, but I'm in no rush to leave either.

The west coast is very nice too. Enjoy the Sarasota/Tampa area when I visit.

I have family that live in Mexico Beach, FL that was pretty much wiped out from the recent hurricane. Low-key place with white beaches and clear water. Since it's pretty much leveled now, you might be able to get a decent lot to rebuild a house on our something.
