So crazy story about this.

The Ford Performance team brought 6 GT500s with them to test at various tracks a few weeks ago. They wanted short road course (<1.5 mile), medium (1.5-2.5 miles) and long (2.5 miles). Then, after spending a few days doing such, they turned their attention to the drag strip. They ran all 6 GT500s in the 1/8 and in the 1/4, exploring their capabilities and what to expect. They even brought in some freelance "non-professional" drivers to get real world times. Their only complaint they had was the altitude, so they decided to run at 3 different drag strips, all varying in altitude. After they were satisfied that they had compiled a very complete data set on its performance, they took it the NHTSA to get it tested for fuel mileage, safety, etc. They ran the updated fuel mileage test, which I heard it outperformed expectations, followed by a few crash testing to make sure it met at least the minimum requirements set forth by the NHTSA.

After all of these tests, the engineers were satisfied that they knew all of the car's boundaries, limitations, and strengths. They went back to Dearborn to report the findings and present them in a way that would be released to the public. Obviously they had trailer-ed the GT500s from Michigan to the various tracks across the country as to not draw attention to them. Well on the way back to Dearborn, the head data analyst was crunching final numbers and preparing their presentation. They stopped at a gas station to fuel up on more time before finishing their trek. Some time between getting out of the truck, and then back in... @DepWraith had snuck in the cabin and stolen all of the data that was collected.

Ford Motor Company reached out to him and basically begged for it back. Guaranteed him all sorts of crazy things, etc. They wanted it back, it had cost them millions to get it.

I'm sure you're wondering what @DepWraith did with it? Well, he decided to circle jerk with @Kaneda at a princess pinball machine party, and they used the paperwork to clean up the mess.

I bet information will be released within the next 4-6 weeks.

I know I’m several weeks behind, I’ve been wrapped up in my own world. But that might be the best post I’ve ever read!

Anyone know of more credible weight numbers? I'm curious as to what the difference between the base car and track car will be. This seems like something that should be available by now.

I had to read your post again, Nick, after seeing @Tob's post. Freaking hilarious! Yeah, it's definitely Hall of Fame material.

Unfortunately not much of anything is confirmed. Outside of the wheels and rear seat delete on the CF Track Pack there’s probably not a huge difference, assuming that’s close to 100#
I’m hoping it’s just over 4000# base, just under CF TP

Assuming the RSD kit is identical to that of the GT350R kit (and it looks to be) the weight savings from that alone comes in at 32lbs.

There's videos online now claiming the $67K price announced for the base model could now be false.

Remember nothing directly from Ford have been announced re: price

That video with the lady dressed like a Ford rep at that show that blurted out the $67 # we have no clue exactly who she is and how she fits into the whole GT500 news thing.

IMO, this is dragged out long enough, announce the stupid stats we all want to know already Ford for Christs sake.

I can wait on price, weight, and hp. I just want to be able to order the car without white ****ing interior accents and hope for an optional RSD on the less than CF Track Package cars.

I somehow suspect that Ford will forge ahead with the ****ed up choices they've made to date, anyway. Witness how luminescent green quietly became snot green. Does Ford think we don't notice shit like this?

The ford rep at the vancouver auto show told my buddy that the Gt500 was delayed a year and wont hit the showroom till 2021. Presumably based on little voices in his head so even the ford reps cant be trusted with legit info like this 67k lady.

These people at the shows are not Ford employees. They are agency employees from contract marketing companies like Campbell, and they do not have this type of information in advance.

I had a customer who owns a dealership tell me the car will have an optional manual trans. I told him I’ll believe it when I see it.

You Grabber Lime haters are a sick breed.

That’d be my order if I was getting one. Would looks suhweet next to Grabber Blue.

These cars are meant to be seen...not blend into the crowd.

Some enjoy vomit, most don't.

Ford had an opportunity with the green they teased with on St. Patrick's Day. Maybe it was another **** up and those close to the program jumped on whoever chopped that unique green hue. One thing is clear - it seemed to be universally liked. This current green, not so much.

What almost was...

It would be nice if Ford brought a base car to the shows. It's almost like they have very few pre-production base cars. When they started showing the GT350, did they only show the GT350R?

I know the majority of the 13-14 GT500 coupes sold, were ordered with the PP & TP options. Does Ford believe the majority of the 2020 GT500's will be ordered with the Carbon-Fiber Track Pack?
