I know there's been some discussion on tramlining and I put a set of hankook all season street tires on the R for daily type use and they reduce the craziness by 90%. It's pretty normal now.

I agree with the discussion at discount tire website that tires have the most direct influence on tramlining because they are the part of the vehicle that comes into contact with the road (and the longitudinal ruts and/or grooves that exist there). Unfortunately anything that increases a high performance tire's responsiveness also increases its willingness to tramline and for the GT350R, most of the cause is the MPSC2's.

My hancook's are on after market but still light wheels, so this may also help a bit since the lightweight CF rims have less gyroscopic stability and allow for easier deflection too...

Interesting. My 350 and the MPSS was pretty rough, enough you'd want 2 hands on the wheel most of the time. I figured it would be worse moving to the ZLE with its wider tires, but it's actually better.

Quick question, 662. What size Hankook all seasons did you put on your GT350R? I've ordered a 2019 GT350 and will be putting on all season tires this coming fall. I found the stock tire dimensions of the GT350's to be absent in an all season tire manufacturer selections.

I stuck a set of Michelin AS3's on a set of OEM GT350 rims for "running around town" duty. No tramlining and no worry about standing water. I'm running 275/40 up front and 285/40 rears, which also gives me about 3/8" more ground clearance.

Thanks for the response, JAJ. I use the Michelin A/S 3's on my current 2013 GT 500 and really like them. I will keep the stock tires on the (whenever it gets here) 2019 GT350 and then get another set of wheels and A/S tires for driving on nice, but cold days here in Md.

I thought you only drove camaro's & dodge/fiat branded autos.
So, you in the market for a Ford? Quite the step up.

My Hankook's are 325/30/19 and 305/30/19 and I love the footprint and street performance, they channel water very well too.

The compound makes the car fun to drive on the street bc the tires will come loose a little when I pop the accelerator in a corner to slip the back just enough. MPSC2 and MPSS stick more and make me look like crazy man when I want to play...

JAJ that's one sexxy beast you got there.

If you've got a set of GT500 rims lying around, you could always do this:

GT350 with GT500 2014 Base Rims Small.jpg

I ran these this winter - 2014 19x9.5" ET44 (front) GT500 Base rims with AS3 255/40x19 fronts and 265/40x19 rears. Tire diameters are EXACTLY the same as the OEM GT350 295/35 and 305/35 tires, but the narrower widths give you better handing in crappy weather. Look cool too.

tramlining is a good thing. It means the tires are laterally gripping the surface and fighting each other over imperfect/uneven surfaces. It's why it usually happens in wide front tire applications. It's also why it doesn't usually happen in narrow front tire applications.

"solving" the issue, is almost assuredly a drop in grip/traction.

Agree! Very few tire choices out there! I could only find three in the stock sizes: Michelin PSC2's, Super Sports, and Pirelli PZ4's.
