Hi all, I have a 4.6 DOHC Cobra which I am intending to install a near new Vortech V2-s-trim oil cooled.
Trying to get it installed with minimal additions. I have Magnaflow 2 1/2" S/S exhaust with highflow cats. CAI intake. That's it.
1/ I know I will need a bigger fuel pump - What will I need?
2/ Maybe new plugs too.
3/ Will I need new coils?
4/ New injectors - What size?
A mate of mine has installed a new Procharger to his and to date has spent about $15,000. Included $5k fo new Haltech computer plus bigger fuel pump and boost a pump. Do you he needed this all?
He had to get a new Haltech computer because he was told the current one could not take a new tune. He is making 450rwhp.

IS THIS CORRECT?? If it is what options do I have?
Your expertise is appreciated!

Need your help fellas!
Cheers

Steve

$180 a single aeromotive 325 pump will suffice
$20 tr6's gapped at 032 will be fine
nope dont need new coils
$200 stock 39lb 03/04 cobra take offs
$270 PMAS hpx-e slot maf with 3" housing
$250 moates quarterhorse from www.moates.net - so you can turn your stock ecu in to a haltech
$0 - free custom tuning software from www.efidynotuning.com

being a junk engine you shouldn't shoot any more than 12lbs to it until you rebuild and forge it out.

Thanks heaps for the info mate. My OEM MAF not enough?
Free tuning software? Never heard of that.
Will log all these answers, great help.

The stock MAF will peg. And you want to run your MAF in draw through set up. If you shop around you might be able to find those injectors even cheaper. Personally I would look around for a set of 60lb injectors. They give you room to grow in the future.

I'm assuming he has an after cooled/power cooled not intercooled setup. He wants draw thru. There is barely enough room to make it blow thru as the maf flange woukd need to be welded on the power cooler and then he would need to squeeze a bypass/blow off flange on it pre-power cooler.

If you're not planning on a motor build in the future then you have no need for going larger than 39/42lb injectors.

You're friend was misinformed big time and spent alot of money he didn't have too.

If you are using the Vortech power cooler, you can put a Diablo mafia on your stock maf or look for an SCT 2400/2600 maf as you'll need to stay draw thru. If you're using an intercooler then the Pmas Hpx to convert to blow thru.

Do you have a local tuner you were planning on using? If so talk with them or any other tuner you choose to see what they prefer to use for tuning.

If you want a plug and play fuel pump get this one. It can be found a little cheaper on ebay. Same pump that BBK markets as their 300lph. https://www.cjponyparts.com/walbro-high-performance-fuel-pump-kit-255-lph-2001-2004/p/FP229HP2/

For bypass/blow off valve depending on if you will be recirculating or venting to atmosphere look at the Vortech Maxflow mini race valve or Tial Q.

Oil line from sump to S/C then return.

I think there's a bit of confusion going on. You saying "oil cooled" is the same as us saying "oil fed". Both mean the supercharger is lubricated by the engine oil.

What blownstang4.6 is asking is if you have some kind of intercooler to cool the air before it goes into the engine. Vortech makes a big air-to-water intercooler that goes inside the engine bay between the blower and throttle body. There is also the air-to-air that has the intercooler mounted behind the front bumper. Do you have one of those set ups?

As far as I know, 'No'. have seen the unit but have not picked it up yet. Should I have one? Sorry new to this.

If you keep the boost low you can get away without cooling the air, but it's always better to have cooler air going into the motor than hot air. A non cooled unit can get up to around 200* on a WOT pull on a warm day. It will also heat soak pretty fast on normal around town driving and the car will feel sluggish.

Intercooler or meth injection. A decent meth kit can be had for $400-$500. The intercooler would be a do it yourself project to get it positioned and fitted correctly and with getting a slot maf and blow off valve you're looking at $800-$1000. For reliability and street use the intercooler is the way to go.

Any particular intercooler? Some links showing setup would be great mate.
Go behind the front bumper, how does the air get through the intercooler into the S/C inlet?
