This car looks way better and basically has the same power plant as the Stinger.

The 100k mike warranty is non-transferable and could be an additional layer to why resale is terrible for Hyundai/Kia but not sure the same for Genesis.

I believe the warranty does transfer, but only if it's certified used. We have a 15 sonata we got certified used and we got the balance of the warranties as a highway beater/kid hauler and it's fine for what it is. Comfortable, gets low to mid 30s mpg but it's not anything exciting to drive.

@VenomVeins, Hyundai/Kia/Genesis have shed that "stench". What do you mean by "performance line"? If you're referring to the Genesis line, Hyundai does not have a "performance" line. They DO have a luxury line (Genesis) that has a performance model, the G-70. Kia doesn't have a "performance" line but they DO have a performance model, the Stinger. Do you really think that people don't know that a Kia Stinger is a performance model? o_O

The lack of a "performance" line is easily rectified by the buyer with a $500 tune. Very nondescript.

looks like a BMW/Infiniti from the side. The front is a little off. It appears to be a great car, and I've owned a Kia Soul when they first came out no issues with it. But not sure if I could pay the $$$$$ needed to get into a decent Genesis/Kia, I'd just buy a used Benz.

You should drive a G-70 and see if it impresses you enough to consider it over another brand. Just so you know, the Genesis G-70 starts at $34,900. for the 2.0T Advanced Package RWD on up to $51,500 for the 3.3T Sport Package AWD. In between there are the Elite and Prestige Packages. So the price range is pretty wide to cover most budgets.

I'd be in the $50K+ range. For that, almost 2 years ago I got a hellcat. I did overpay when the wife had to have the new explorer, $50K for a fugging explorer, but it is very nice. It is a very nice car, but it lacks the pedigree of a Benz or BMW. Although over time it maybe more reliable.

I see the Genesis/Stinger as the car the SHO should've been. The SHO has a great powertrain just the chassis couldn't live up to.

I am loving the re sale comments. I bought the wife a BMW M Sport 335I brand new. That car lost over half of its value in 47k miles and had more mechanical issues than any other vehicle that have ever owned.

So true. One of the few cars to actually hold their value well is the '03-'04 Cobra. The majority of cars not so much. I've never bought a car for its resale value. If it happens to hold value well, that's icy on the cake. At least for me.

FTFY....Ford has nothing to compete with the Veloster N. They tucked tail and left the US. The N cars are going to be a hit here in the states. Hyundai is doing everything they can to ensure that.

If they bring the Elantra N(i30N overseas) here to the US i will be the first in line.

Good point. The new Focus ST looks great yet Ford is bailing on bringing it here which is just assinine to me. I was under the impression that all the N models were coming here but I guess it is just the Veloster for now.

From what ive heard they are testing the waters on the i30N by selling us the N-Line Elantra first. If it sells well along side the Veloster N i believe they will bring the Elantra N here to the states. Id kill for an i30N at this point to replace my Fiesta ST. The Focus was going to be its replacement but well....you know.

Yep.

Go try and trade this car in shortly after buying it. You'll find out pretty quickly it's not worth crap, because other brands used lots put zero stock in Hyundai/Kia.

Also, I don't care how great they are/aren't, they are 100k mile vehicles. I have never seen a vehicle engineered to go 100k, then start breaking, like it was in the plans. I'm not alone in this either. Most everyone who love Hyundai/Kia talk about it being great, but they just so happen to sell at 100k.

Keep it from 100-200k, you'll replace everything. Wifes elantra hit 100k and it was like a bomb went off. All the coils, visor literally fell off, USB port shit the bed, paint is flaking off now, and more.
Very few people keep any car pst 100k, and most higher end cars are flipped the second their 3yr/36k warranty is up.

The reality is Hyundai/Kia is very appropriate vehicle for a budget conscious person who wants the most out of their money. It provides plenty of creature comforts and from a overall build quality that I see on the collision end is absolutely on par with most American cars these days.

Sure maybe for the few that plan to keep long term it’s worth the extra cost for Toyota or Honda but that’s for each person to decide.

The Tao 5.0 is not available on the G70- yet. It sure would make one hell of an addition to the lineup!

For anyone who talks down on these cars, you need to drive one. 180* from what Hyundai/Kia used to be.

I was bored the other weekend so my wife and I went and test drove a Stinger, I was absolutely dumbfounded. The car was basically the demo for the dealership and had like 4000 test drive miles on it. Completely solid, no rattles, squeaks or odd thumps. It ran very well for the size of the car and felt physically smaller than it looks. I had a ton of confidence in the car taking a rather fast sweeper, I didn't reach the limit but I could tell it would probably start to under steer as the tires ran out of grip but it was well balanced. It's every bit of a GT car, really comfortable but still has enough in it to keep you entertained.

The G70 is apparently a step ahead of that car according to everyone. I am going out of my way not to test drive one.

I pass a gray Stinger that sits out front on the dealer lot every morning and I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to pull over, trade and drive off with it.

If you are in any sort of position where you shouldn't do it financially, I would recommend not test driving it.
