100% stock 2004 Convertible, street driven only, and never in wet.

Even tho the OG tires on my car have plenty of tread left, they’re nearly 15 years old now. So, I’ve been researching new tire choices, and I think I’ve narrowed it down to either Continental Extreme Contact Sport or Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.

I welcome your comments regarding these two choices, as well as any recommendations for others that I should consider.

Thanks!

My recommendation since your car is stock and you have a vert is Nitto NT05! I put these tires on my 2000 Cobra R and love them! I checked and they come in 275/40/17. These tires have a treadwear rating of 200, which makes them much more grippy than traditional car tires that are 300+. For a modded car, I’d go with Toyo R888s. They have unrivaled grip (100 tread wear rating), but they are noisy bastards. At stock power, I highly recommend the NT05... excellent performance tire!

I just put a set of NT05s on my convertible. It never sees the rain either. Definitely recommend them.

I just ordered Toyo R888s for the rear and am trying to decide what to do for the fronts. They are replacing old falken's.

Remember tread wear rating is within same company and can't be compared across brands as it's more or less a made up number. Nittos with a 200 could be better or worse than a Toyo with a 100.

I have the Continental Extreme Contact DW's (Very similar.) They're a good tire.

Things I like:
- Tread wear is holding up well after 3k miles.
- Does well in wet conditions. I avoid rain, however it's impossible at times to not get caught in a summer storm in Florida every now and then.
- Good grip, even in lower temps

Things I don't like:
- The look of the tires on the car compared to Nitto's. Nitto's (especially the NT's) just look right on these cars...
