Anybody remember Adam Sandler’s ‘toll booth Willy’? :)
And c’mon man, 4.2KB has gotta have R-compound rubber. I thought KB included those in the kit?

Willie great to see you posting again and I wish you well on a quick recovery.
I’d say a 4.2KB is one helluva upgrade!
Any pics or video?

Great words from a great guy... Thank you.
Unfortunately, my condition is long term... no cure and I have heard that after four years, give or take, chances are this is permanent. I was diagnosed in 2006.

I promise to all of you, I have created and engineered countless one-off mods; stuff you have never seen, nor even heard of before. Cosmetic and functional. I have tons of pics that I have never shared, even here...

WILLIE!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see you're feeling better. I need to come down for another visit.

I can personally confirm that Willie's car is 100% grade AAA bad to the bone fast.

Didnt even have his foot down on the gas and it pulls like a bat out of hell. Willie is one of the few that NEED a drag radial to get anything close to resembling traction on the street.

Thank you, my friend. You too Ed, are a great man. And definitely yes, I would love if you could visit again sometime. I would love to visit you too, but I can't stray very far from my home. To be brutally honest, my illness has basically forced me to become a recluse. I have lost many friends and one of the things I enjoy the most, working on my cars, I can no longer do... I am a member of my former employer's drag race club, but not participated in years. I have spectated in recent years, but not since early last year have I been able to go.

LOL....how true! Anyone here have any experience with the Nitto NT05R drag radial? 315-40R-18, the same size as the Demon's. They fit my car like a glove...

Don't want to hijack this thread but I too wanted to welcome back Willie. Good to see your still out there & absolutely wish you the very best in what's going on in your life. I haven't posted in sometime but I felt obligated to reply after seeing your post.

You have been & continue to be a great asset to this forum!

Best to you in whatever life has thrown your way. We have no guarantee of tomorrow. So we must go one day @ a time.

Best regards,
Ray

For the OP definitely a tough decision but there's been a lot of shared observations/opinions already given. Lots of options for sure to consider. Typically boils down to capital ($$) and personal preference. All the options out there right now are great ones that's for sure...

Best of luck!

Well my intended purpose is to not get embarrassed during impromptu highway encounters with all the hellcats and modded scat packs in my area if I'm spending this amount of money in mods. I initially bought the car because of the potential ease of higher power with simple mods obviously it was before hellcats were a thing and affordable. But at the same time I don't want to grenade my engine as they are not LS's and easily replaceable. I do plan on switching over to a ctsv after I get a new house to please the wife and they are more family friendly. Maybe this is a sign to just wait a few more years.

My LS7 is $15k for the longblock. A built LSR can be $25k+ for the SB. I look at modular websites and you guys have it cheap. Part of the reason why I want a 500 lol.

I had an 07’ GT500 back in 2008 w Whipple 3.4L, ARH LT’s w full Magnaflow 3” exhaust, Whipple Monoblade, JLT CAÍ, Injectors, IW 10% lower, and dual BAP. Car made 750rwhp on 93 at ~ 20psi. Car made 800rwhp on 104 at 22psi. Stock cams. Probably pushing my luck on the short block but I ran it pretty hard on the street/highway and a couple 1/4 mile visits w no issues. Installed BMR k-member a drop spacers to fit 3.4L Under stock hood.

I currently have a 2013 GT500 w Whipple Gen 3 2.9L, VMP Twinjet 67mm, JLT 155mm CAÍ, ID1050X Injectors, IW 15% lower, SW LT’s/H-Pipe (stock catback), Billet OPGs/Crank Gear. Stock cams. Daily driver. Makes 780rwhp on 93 octane @ 19psi. Absolutely sure it would be well over 800rwhp on E85 but the rods make me nervous.

I like the Whipple 2.9L Gen 3 personally as it’s a more efficient design and fits under the stock hood no issues and accepts all readily available throttle bodies. And looks great! View attachment 1552049

This is kind of the way I am leaning for an aftermarket blower. You have to look at cost versus power. A larger blower can yeild bigger power and push the limit of the SB or you can grab a smaller blower for $500 cheaper and spend $2k on full exhaust and $2,200 on SS cams to hit the same number. For me, the VMP Gen 3/Whipple 3.4/KB 3.2 would be great. Probably go the Whipple 3.4 route.

Set goals before you spend cash. Then listen to guys that have done it.
That’s all I’m saying for now. Bench racing is fun though :)

Willie:
I do have experience with the NT05R 315/40/18, M&H 325/40/18, MT 305/45/18 and Hoosier 325/45/18.
Hoosier is the hardest hooking strip>street 18.
Nitto closely in front of M&H are best street>strip 18
I’ll be testing 315/50/17 MTs in the next few weeks.
One thing I want to try is the DEMON labeled NT05R 315/40/18 but I’m afraid I’m past that power level.

Perfectly worded and definitely listen to the guys who have done it. You do not want to spend the money twice. That is why I am back on SVTP doing research lol.

5.4 is a beefy engine architecture with plenty of parts. Nothing wrong with the 5.8, but the necessary taper of the 5.8 rod on the skinny end (factory or otherwise) makes me nervous. Personal quirk for sure :D :D

On the Whipples you have or had, did you/do you have any issue with belt slip? Ive got an upgraded VMP tensioner, but Im currently running a BPS aux belt idler so there is no question on slip.

The pullies sure are bigger on the Whipples so I wasnt sure if an aux idler was necessary.

Another point towards a 5.4 haha. I about have just come to the conclusion of dropping in rods only when I grab one. I am not going to bother with pistons and rings. I will polish the crank since it would be out. Then upgrade all timing components. Then run pump to 800 and run race gas and make big power!
