There are several options out there for those who want to add Morimoto XB LED Projector fog lights to their Terminator Cobra bumpers. I'm disappointing at how expensive most are. I worked with some molds (fairly unsuccessfully) in the past but this time around, with the simple 3D printed Adapter I have created something that I can easily and cheaply reproduce.

Benefits are obvious - in that I can make this completely symmetrical and keep the fog light perfectly level and square within the adapter. The only real down side that I can see is it takes my slow printer 12 hours to print each adapter.

I made a video kind of showing how it all works:

The adapter I'm creating is designed to work with the Morimoto XB LED Fogs "Type M" - typically for Chrysler or Dodge vehicles.
Example Link: Dodge (3

Edit 7/10/2020 - Looks like the old link is 404. Here is a working Link to TRS. Still the "Type M": Chrysler (Round): Morimoto XB LED Fog Lights I TRS

Anyways - after 9 tries I finally have an adapter that fits our bumper perfectly and I just thought I'd share my latest creation.

Nice, been considering making that adapter for a while by hand out of kydex. Dont think it would be nearly as nice, if you care to print another set feel free to p.m. me the details.

Nice mod. So how many hours do you think it took you to perfect the design? Sucks that faster 3D printers are so darn expensive.

How much for a set?
PM sent

I probably spent way more hours than I should have just cause I started with trial and error. Process was print, figure it out what's still wrong, make the tweaks in the 3D model and print again - at least until I got to a version I was confident properly did the job. Over 20 hours for sure (not including the printing).

I do wish 3D printing was faster. There are little things I can change to make it print faster but it ends up being quality vs. speed issue. I just find the slower prints look way better, at least from my printer anyways.

Anyone try to retrofit HID projector in the OEM fog lights? I know you would need to cut them up quite a bit.

I was contemplating it before I picked up these plates and XB's. Plan was to basically remove the entire reflector bowl and mount a set of Mini H1 projectors to a PVC cap and mount that to whats left of the fog housing. Only thing I was worried about was heat dissapation with the Mini H1, they have Matchbox projectors but I have never worked with them before.

Yeah, I'm looking into also. Never heard if the PVC deal. Are these any links to something like that?

These adapters and XB fogs are a much cleaner end result than anything I had in mind to be honest. In comparisson its more cost effective this way as well when you factor in time spent on an expirimental retro design that may or may not work.

I'm not a huge fan of the looks of the the LED lights. I prefer the HID projector.
Was hoping someone had already done it, so I wouldn't need to pioneer the adventure.
I actually found a 3" projector fog light that was designed for Jeep Wranglers.
It's a 3" projector that comes with a plain black trim ring/adapter. Looks like it would be almost the same width ad the OEM fogs. Then it's just a matter of making it fit. They are Bi-xenon too so my high beams would be bright as shit. Lol

I have a set ready to go right away - and another print starting now (should be ready by Monday).

PM me if you are interested in them. I didn't know what to charge for them initially - but I think I've settled on $26 shipped (within USA - via priority USPS) with the 16 screws included. It may turn out to be a little less once I figure out a cheaper method to ship. All you would need to get is the Morimoto fog lights mentioned in the initial post.

I've thought about retrofit HID projector fogs - and still think it would be a killer look. The problem is the space and waterproofing. The headlights have a lot of space to dissipate the heat, and the headlight itself provides the waterproofing needed to keep the projectors dry. For the fogs however - I can't imagine the amount of extra work needed to fabricate the waterproof housing so you could fit a projector inside.

That said, I haven't played with the Matchbox projectors - those may be small enough to do the trick.

With the Morimoto XB LED Fogs - you don't really need to worry about the heat nor the waterproofing since it is designed to handle both right out of the box.

EDIT: I'll also add that Morimoto XB LEDs have the connection that plugs straight into the harness of our car vs. the need to add a ballast in the mix. The LEDs are also 10W vs. HID 35W in power consumption.

I got to say - that looks like the exact mounting points to the Morimoto fogs I use. I bet that would be an option that would work with my adapter.

Not in my case though, ad I need will be doing it for the 94-98 Cobras. The width seems.like a good match.
What was the PVC thing I heard mentioned earlier?

Finally got around to installing these and they look great, havent driven around with them yet but they give a real nice clean look over the stock halogen. They match suprisingly well with the SW-Light projector retros 4300K HID's I put on at the same time. Im real happy to have modern lighting on my Cobra again, ditched the retro set I made because the headlight housings were garbage to begin with.

The PVC thing is basically a way to make a round sealed housing that gives you a place to mount a Mini H1 type projector. Chop off the backside of a fog leaving the lens and mounting bracket and replace it with the PVC end cap. Just google PVC end cap and that should give you the idea.

*Will post pics when the site isnt being a pain*
