That may have been true but color selection was extremely limited.

No may about it. I bought the color I wanted. The only other color combo on my radar was Shadow Black w black stripes. Stripe delete Race Red and stripe delete Magnetic Grey were possibilities but I didn't search for those. I searched for Black first. I'm very pleased with the stripe delete I got. I feel the solid color opens up more possibilities with aftermarket wheel color choices. And I can always add the R stripes but I don't even want to. Paint correction and protection is the key to owning a black car.

Also, the dealership I bought my R from had a White/Blue Stripe R still on the floor that sold at MSRP the day before to a buyer from CA. He is member on the "other" forum. Also I know a guy who is a member here and on the "other" forum who bought Black/w Stripe R from a dealership 2 hours down the road for $4500 off in November. Mine and the white one sold back in Oct. fwiw.

When I got my Race Red R in July there were only 2 within 500 miles of me, 1 in GA that the dealership wouldn't negotiate on the $99k price and the 1 that ended up purchasing in FL for $3k over. Lead Foot was another color I liked but the dealership in SC that had one wouldn't come down lower than $7k over because it had just come in.

What’s frustrating to me is that I think many guys like me would be happy to pay MSRP to order the car to personal spec. Now there are many dealers out there willing to do this, but there’s not that many allocations. Still many dealers order them and try to make an ADM payday, then if they don’t sell, we can eventually find them late in the year at MSRP or under, but you’re stuck with the dealer spec order.
Lots of this is common sense and been discussed, but if Ford would give the opportunity for more personalized customer orders and less dealer stock, I think you could find a balance between ADM and overproduction.
As it is, like anything else, if you put in the time you can find what you want, but that’s not easy or attractive to many.

I do a national search. Just reinforces my point that one must be willing to travel. Their out there. I admit I got super lucky to find what I wanted local.

I think that's a heck of a nice price for someone at this time.
