Two platforms are, 13-14 GT or 2015-18 Focus ST1
One way to work is 8 minutes, 4 days a week.
Also have an F150 and my 2011 Shelby (700hp). I do not want to daily my Shelby, and for long trips, the F150 is comfy and plush.

The 13-14 GT/AUTO/WHITE
would be an investment to daily but than 3 or 4 years from now afford me the opportunity to turbo it and have another weekend car. Son and Daughter would have a "mustang" to enter into car shows next to my Shelby.

The problem I have with the GT is I don't think I could drive a "sports car", let alone a mustang on a daily basis. I did back in the day, but years of cars has changed that perspective. The GT cockpit is similar to my Shelby, and what I like about the Shelby is being a weekend car, I feel the "newness" every time after driving a slower car such as a Fusion, truck etc. If the cockpit is the same as the GT, it takes one factor of "newness" away. I think :/

As much as I would like to say I would keep the GT stock, I don't think I could. And now, I'm modding two cars...Shelby and a GT. So there's that....

Focus ST1.
Simple, manual, white or grey. I like the blue but my Shelby is blue and don't want two blue cars. The Focus can be modded, but I can also drive it for 3 years than pass it off to one of my kids.
Plus, the Focus would serve as training my two kids how to drive a stick. If I kept the Focus long term, there is always room for mods and more power.

I have always been partial to Fords and I don't like the jelly bean looking Fusions. So that's out.
Neither car will have a dedicated garage spot. So a white car seems to make sense.
Stays cooler, easier to clean etc.

Figured I would post up, see what other suggestions you guys have?
I live in the south, no snow or nasty weather
Budget is about $25,000
Buying in the next 2 weeks.

If your budget is $25,000, why an ST1? ST3’s can be picked up for mid-teens. I assume you want 15+ for the face lift, otherwise mid-low teens for a 14 ST3.

Either daily the F-150 or Get a RCSB 5.0 Coyote F-150. Whipple it when the kids are ready. Crush the car shows with kids. :D

2015+ VW GTI or a brand new Jetta GLI which is now finally on the same chassis as the wonderful GTI.

I DD'd a 2015 GTI for about 2 years and it was FANTASTIC. Plenty of power, handled ****ing incredible, acceptable ride, 31-32 mpg combined hand calculated like clock work, unbelievably nice interior (Audi level is not an overstatement), bad ass seats, and a 6 speed manual that you'd think God designed himself.

Believe i paid $23.5k OTD brand new.

There is no way in hell i'd buy a Focus ST if i could buy a new GTI. (I actually drove both before i bought the GTI--I wanted a Focus ST prior to driving the GTI).

If you are opposed, at least do yourself a favor and drive one before you buy anything. They are one of the decades amazing deals IMO and a great all-arounder.

Ride a bike to work. On rainy days, take the truck. Then you can put the rest of your budget into the kids college fund. Or take the family somewhere special. I’ve never been a fan of spending a bunch of money on DD’s...

*To actually answer the OP’s question, given those two options, I’d go with the Stang. Simply because I’m not a fan of the Focus.

I actually have all that taken care of. And we go special places all the time. BUT....a bike is out of the question. I take 4 lane roads to work and traffic sucks. Not to mention 110 degrees with 99% humidity in the summer

I aint got shit else to do...so I will check those out. However, I remember my sister had an older Jetta and the trans crapped out. IIRC, the bill was outrageous due to it being a VW.
Also gonna take my pre approval in and finally drive a newer Stingray. See what that's all about

It’s not on your list and completely different than anything you’re considering, but I DD a 2013 Infiniti M37X Sport and absolutely love it. Now I live in Michigan therefor it’s AWD, but it’s sporty, unbelievable factory sound system, all the creature comforts one would ever need. I picked mine up with 35,000 miles and paid $22K out the door.

I agree, if you're considering a 'hot hatch', to give the GTI a chance. I've had a 2008 GTi and a 2012 Golf R. Both were awesome daily drivers and the interior was definitely way ahead of the Focus.

Going out this weekend to do some looking and test driving

The concern I have for the VW GTI's is if a simple component needs to be replaced, it's gonna be expensive with the VW name?
The interiors I saw, are so....."hipster" looking lol

The only items I ever replaced on the GTI were 2 coil packs. They were less than $15 each at the local parts store. VW does not imply high parts costs, that would be the responsibility of their other brands: Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti.

I know it probably isnt in the cards but the new Hyundai Elantra GT Sport(the hatchback model) with the turbocharged motors and 6 speed transmission is getting great reviews. For a daily driver it comes with 10x more stuff standard over the FoST and GTI plus you get the 100k warranty. I think OTD you could get one well under your budget and not have to worry about anything.

Worth a shot if you dont mind looking and test driving one. Good luck on the hunt!

saw @PhoenixM3 sig after posting. Started last week looking for Fusion Sports. Hard to come buy near me and really didn't wanna cut into my Shelby mod money etc.

EDIT: Posted the car I was suppose to get here.....told the Dealership to go suck a dick and keep their car

They "redid" the paperwork and wanted $999.00 dealer fess AND $850.00 reconditioning fee for changing out the wipers and putting a pine tree scent thing from the mirror
