I own a 2010 GT500 and thus have that old school Ford key.
this thing-

Was wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded their key to something a bit more modern, perhaps something like this-

Is something like that compatible with the 2010 GT500? or am i stuck with this "retro" key lol

You mean those "switchblade" key/remote FOBs???

I remember years ago wanting to do the same & I never got around to switching over....

Ohh i see, so it is possible. Hmmm the link he posted with which to do the actual programming seems to no longer be working. But than again, the post is several years old. I might just buy two fobs and get a dealer to program them.

Flip key, yes. Converting to key-less FOB push-start with factory parts? Unless it comes from Ford as a retrofit kit then its not possible.

I got mine from eBay also. It seems that getting a Ford logo with/or on the flip fob is not as common as it was in the past, but I bought mine quite a few years ago, and it works well........

These are the Cobra emblems I bought, they appear to be the same as the ones above.

As mentioned above, both original keys are required to put the car in programming mode at the owner level, I went through the instructions that came with the key (sometimes the seller sends it separately in an email), programmed the flip key and it has been a nice key upgrade for my 2008.

Those Shelby emblems were actually listed on eBay as fob emblems, like 13mm or something like that, they had four listed and at first I only bought two, after a couple of hours I went back on eBay and bought the other two. I had never seen them before and I know that "if" the fob has to be taken apart, that emblem usually gets destroyed so I better have some spares. I kept waiting/watching for a relist on eBay and never saw one. Since that time I have been all over the internet trying to find a vendor who sells them with no luck. They came from Serbia.

^^^^Also on taking the fob apart........At first I was under the impression that the emblem had to be removed and the small Phillips screw under the emblem would have to be removed to separate the fob for battery replacement, but since then I have realized that the battery is replaceable without removing the emblem and separating the fob into halves.

Would you happen to have the instructions on how to program the keys? I do have two keys for my car currently but the link posted here for instructions on programming the keys, no longer works.

Thanks for the link to the Shelby/Cobra emblems, I had not looked for them recently, I bought a couple more. They do look like the ones I bought a few years ago.

The stock key I have is CWTWB1U793. Most of the flip keys on eBay don’t list this part number as compatible

I would contact the vendor who is selling the key and provide the number above and ask them if it is compatible.

The key I posted in post #11 is the one I have and it works in my 2013. Check out the compatibility list for your car. I bought my keys from the same seller back in early 2013.

Did you have the single key with fob built in? The auction says it only can replace the key where the actual key and fob are separate.
