I've only belonged to a couple forums before so this is new water to me. I've been in the Mark VIII forums since 2001 back when these kind of forums were just beginning. I have been in one of the larger FB Groups for a while. There are a number of members that know the Mark VIII 4.6 DOHC version well but not the versed about Cobra Version 4.6. That's one of the reasons I decided to try here and hopefully learn some things about the Cobra engine.

I've been driving Mark VIII's for 20 years and just have a passion for them. As the title stated, I'm putting a new Kenne Bell 2.1L non intercooled blower on my 98 Mark VIII. I understand not having a intercooler is a big draw back but this is what I've decided to do. So with that out of the way :) I'm going to have some questions as I put the build together and would appreciate if anyone would be kind enough to help.

Right now it's basically stock, I know the engine doesn't have forged crank or rods. The car only has 69K on it so I'm hoping the bottom end will stay together for a while. The aftermarket parts I have bought are KB 2.1L, IMRC delete plates, Bosch 42lbs injectors, 255 fuel pump and Kooks 3/4 length headers. I'm only planning on 6-7 pounds boost to start with and go from there.

This first question is really just about getting myself a starting point in the forum, so here we go. Is my factory TB sufficient (dual 57mm openings with 1089 CFM airflow) or would I be smarter to go ahead and get the Accufab SCTB96-98 TB It flows 1696 CFM. I know this is a stupid question in general but would I see that big of a difference going with the Accufab? Also I'm planning on a SNOW Stage 2 kit.

I'm just getting started with the build and just wanted to find a place where I might get some answers to question I'm sure that will come up as the build goes on. Anyone that wants to offer advice or insight please feel free.

Thanks,

Greg

More pics please. Did you graft a 03/4 bumper on to the VIII bumper?
Looking forward to watching this build.

No, the lower front bumper is available from Temple Performance. Unfortunately I just lost a bunch of pictures I thought I had backed up but discovered they weren't, So I have to go back and reload everything as well as resize the pictures. Once I get that done I will load them on here. I will do a couple pictures of the car tomorrow and will post some then. I appreciate your interest.

Nice car and welcome. I look forward to your build. I know there are some folks on the site that should be able to answer some of your questions

Awesome car. I believe the stock TB is more than sufficient for the boost levels that your are aiming for, but na svt would probably be more apt to describe the airflow characteristics of the stock TB versus like an aftermarket BBK or a single blade.

98 svt, just getting around to this but here are a couple more pictures. These cars are kind of a love/hate car, people seem to ether LOVE them or HATE them :) Kind of obvious how I feel :) Hopefully you'll read this or someone will, what is a good upgrade on the belt tensioner? I remember people talking about the Marks not working well with forced air applications. Are you aware of a good upgrade?

I think I did the somepoint the math with this and 4.6 engine 1200CFM was roughly enough for 15-17psi levels.

Thanks for the input. Just to be clear, this is for the DOHC? The stock TB on my car is 1089 cfm so I should be good with the setup I have for now.
