My old Mystichrome Vert. I sold it about 3 weeks ago for $27,225 after trying for months to sell it for $29-$32K and $27K was the highest I got. I got tired of having a car sit in my garage and paying $400 a month for it so I sold it and paid off all my credit cards.

I am honestly shocked to see them asking $39K for it. I'm wondering if it'll sell for all that.

I see it sold at auction, how can i find out how much it went for at auction?

You gave them one heck of a good deal selling a 4,000 mile MC vert for that price. Years from now, you’ll still be talking about this car when you see the prices they command down the road.

Wat about 10th anniversary cobras? How do you all feel about it?

The only other car other than Mystichrome to have an upgraded interior. I think the red interior looks fantastic! I have a buddy with a vert that he is getting ready to sell. The red 10th cars are good looking in my opinion.

The anniversary cars should command a bit more, but I don’t see top dollar on those.

Probably not. Years of dealing with BMWs just beat the car guy out of me. BMWs are fun to drive and are really nice looking cars but the maintenance was killing me and it really soured me towards cars. I was working on them myself and then got tired of it and it got more complex so now I had to pay someone. I got tired of that and then realized I was spending an average of $5K a year on those cars. Now, for some enthusiasts, $5K a year isn't much but when I look back at where most of my time and money went for the past 25 years, it was all cars (and one ex wife). It started to gnaw at me thinking about how much money I would have had if I didn't spend it on Mustangs and BMW's. I had spreadsheets and old credit card statements and I was just compiling information.

I got to a point where I didn't even want to change my oil anymore (heck, I even paid to get spark plugs replaced on the Lexus) and that's when it was time for me to get out. I sold the BMW a few months ago (after dropping $4K on repairing a whole boatload of leaks all over the car and then seeing that the valvestems also needed replacing at another $3K), got me a boring Lexus and now I sold the Cobra and the extra money from that can go into my TSP (Federal Employee version of a 401K). I already paid off all my credit cards with the money from the sale and I've increase my TSP allotment. I want out the Federal Government as soon as I'm eligible and I want to retire comfortably.

Sounds like you made a sound fiscal decision @HPLouis, but dang! That was a steal for your car!

Yeah, it was. Lesson learned for me is that I should have been more patient and used options that were available to me. I should have listed the car here and on eBay. I thought it was a good sale at $27-$28K but when I saw the car go for $31.5K, at auction, at wholesale, nonetheless, I now see that I was sitting on a $33-$35K car.

My brother was telling me that I should have sold the car on consignment or had someone else sell it for me. I was too emotionally involved (tired) to sell it. He's heard me complaining about the car sitting and how I couldn't even really drive it since Brooklyn has 25MPH speed limits and the BMW issues, etc. I would talk about times at Tyndall AFB in the FL panhandle where you could drive a car fast and the roads were nice, no potholes, no winters, etc. and he knew I was getting tired.

I have no regrets though. Especially when I paid off my credit cards and increased the funding to my TSP. It felt like the weight of the world was off my shoulders when I saw the zero balances on those cards.

I thought the same thing when I sold my 300 mile MC 2 years ago. Thought I would never regret it however to this day I wish I wouldn’t have sold. It will haunt you trust me.

My brother was telling me the same thing 3 weeks ago when I sold it. I really hope it doesn't but only time will tell. At least for now, I made the right decision. I need my finances and credit right, especially as my family and I are getting older.

I remember your Mystichrome. It was a beautiful coupe. There's a guy here, Smokestang, in upstate NY who also had a coupe with 2700 miles. Both cars were gorgeous. I am honestly hoping I don't see a Mystichrome coupe with low miles for sale....ever. That would break my plan because I've always loved coupes and I would run to the bank and get a check immediately. I'm a vert guy but the Mystichrome coupe really do something for me. Thank God those don't come up for sale often.

My wife is actually looking at a SY vert right now - have not seen one in a long time. People either love or hate that color - she loves it.

I'm gonna chime in on the comments about CO rarity. The fact that it was available on all Mustangs in 2004 is true. Regardless of this fact I don't see them. Full disclosure, I own a CO 'vert and do enjoy seeing the values stay high even though mine has meaning that goes beyond dollars. That's for another day. The last three years I've been to many shows, cruise ins, auctions even Mustang Week events. If I take my CO it is typically the only one there or at times there is one other. If there are so many Machs, GT's and V6s out there well then they are well hidden as the owners do not bring them out much.

I have no doubt there are more COs overall than MCs and probably other colors but the Cobra is in and of itself a unique model add a unique color and it's a valuable combo. As CO was reintroduced in 2015 the color has gotten more attention and more prevalent there's no questioning that. Even so we have a Cars and Coffee event in my town that has approached 1000 cars and when my CO is there it will almost always be the only CO New Edge and often the only CO at all.

So, yes, the color was put on more models but 15 years later I'd wager many of them are off the road. I think it's cool that there are only 71 other Cobra convertibles like mine and it adds to the appreciation and pride I take in the one I'm able to call my own.

I'll step off now but know that I love all Mustangs and have owned 5 over the years (a Boss 351 would to this day almost tempt me to the point of hanging a for sale sign on my 'vert). The car hobby in general is made up of good people and cars aside it's the people I get to meet that makes it worthwhile. Whether they're in a MC, SB, RF or MG Cobra or a primered '67 hardtop there is a shared comraderie that we must recognize and appreciate.

I’m a Mystichrome guy....look, I sold one and bought another one just a few months later, but I agree. Even though orange is on many other cars, there’s something about an orange Terminator. Whenever I see one, my head turns. It’s just a cool color.

I also like unique color Terminators; even though mine are mainly silver and are considered the most boring color Terminator reserved for old men LMAO!!!

I'm a big fan of the 10th cars. I really like the all leather, red insert seats.
When I was hunting last Summer I ended up jumping on a Silver Metallic 10th coupe from right here on SVTP. SM certainly doesn't seem to be a "popular" color, but the 10th cars only came in three colors and my coupe is 1 of 257, so pretty damn rare.

My top 3 would be

Comp
OW
Redfire... Mystic is on the bottom of my list. I could never get past the Portuguese looking seats and steering wheel

You really don't ever see many OW or SB Terminators for sale. I know they're not as limited in numbers as the MC's and CO's, but the owners must really hold on to them.

I see OW for sale more than SB and CO. That said sometimes the colors can pop up in spurts for sale sometimes it’s a while before they pop up.
