......The only reason to buy a Terminator is because you have to have a Terminator. Performance is no longer a viable selling factor.

I LOVE terminators, but there are just so many cool cars to own right now.
There are certainly a lot of really cool, high performance cars available today. Long list of possibilities. I believe the mystique of the Terminator has developed somewhat of a cult following. That in large part is why the demand hasn't diminished, keeping resale prices high. 5 years from now people will STILL be talking about the Terminator. The same can't be said about the majority of other performance car options out there. JMO.

exactly. I get kids in their teens and early 20's who know what this car is ask about it. I imagine the same can't be said for most late 90's to early 2000's year model performance cars

Also, this car definitely has a "mythical" status that may even exceed reality.

go on YouTube, look up racing videos, and see how many times "terminator" is mentioned in the comments section. Many times, a terminator isn't even racing in the video. That's the status this car holds in the racing/ car community...

I have a discussion with a guy every year about these cars. He said he should have bought one 5 years ago, instead of waiting for the prices to drop. Since the prices have not dropped, especially with a well kept, low mileage example that he's looking for, he figures it'll be a while before he ever gets his hands on one. He always asks me to keep him in mind, if I ever decide to sell.

Basically a lot like the old Hemis and 6pk cars.

Gotta remember the cost of importing and registering these cars overseas.

In Norway it was a 100% import luxury tax + the cost to actually ship, hired a broker and bond company and then the cost of converting for Euro safety. (taillights, fender lights and safest warning stickers, etc). I'm sure Finland isn't much different.

Combine that with the obvious rarity, $60k isn't outrageous.s.
Import tax here is about 50%. Either way 20K Terminator shipped here to be road legal...35-37K total, so yeah 60k is kinda take it to the bank :D

A couple years after I bought mine I was offered the exact same amount in case. Even with over 100K on the clock. I was tempted for a couple seconds.

1800 miles....lol
But honestly i should/would have put more on than that but the last 2 years i had it i was working on our new house. So the car took a back seat for sure. Realistically it would have been 2500 to 3000 which i feel wouldnt have hurt the value. I really think these cars arent going to drop but hold steady or even climb.
My 280z i just bought i feel is rising in value from last time i owned one. A beautiful, low mileage, all original car like the one i bought is approaching 20000.00. And like alot of the other classic Japanese stuff its only going to keep climbing.

I had a terminator about 5 yrs ago, sold it and got a 13 Boss 302, then moved onto a 08 Shelby - I am actually looking for another terminator - they ride nice, good looking and great power. I am glad the prices have gone down a bit - weather they go up or not isn't that important to me as I am getting another one for the fun factor.

Maybe the prices have dropped a touch, but I still believe it really depends on the car itself.
All kinds of factors will affect the price... Color, coupe vs vert, condition, mileage, documentation, location, modifications, time of year, competing buyers... I'm sure you guys could still add to that list.
I bought my first Terminator from right here on SVTP last Summer, kinda toward what I consider to be the tail end of the "Summer pricing" in Michigan. Most of the big car shows and cruises are over and people are starting to think about putting the cars up for the Winter. I bought a pullied, stock Eaton Silver Metallic 2003 10th Anniversary coupe, 1 of 257. Car had slightly higher mileage than I was looking for at 77,000, but it was goddamn spotlessly clean all over, underneath and had good documentation. The last two owners were both SVTP members. I probably reached by maybe $1,000 - $1,500 on the price, but I still paid less than $20,000 and there was another guy offering to buy it sight unseen and trailer it home that week.
Turned out to be a great buy for me. I've had no issues so far and the guy I had retune the car told me it was one of the nicest and cleanest Terminators he's ever had in his shop.

To add to the conditions don't forget how many are being sold of what you want. When I was looking there were no Mystichrome coupes for sale. There were 4 or 5 verts and I think they were all at High End Auto. But I'm not a vert guy. And I was looking hard for a coupe as well. Even my family and friends were looking for me.

Well, to be totally honest, there were 3 coupes listed for sale. I'm pretty sure one was a scam. The price was ridiculously low and the guy was all about shipping it to me after I sent the money. Supposedly he was heading over seas. But he never sent any more pics when I asked. And suddenly got quiet when I said I would fly out to drive it home. The second one was an ad that Autotrader refused to take down for some reason. One of those things I found out after sending the poor guy tons of emails. The third was the car I ended up with. I know most would say I paid too much for mine given the miles and such. And to a point I agree. But it's all about the supply and demand.

I just today spoke with a guy who bought my old mystichrome from the guy I sold it to 3 years ago. It now has 354 miles and he paid.......$57k. He knows he overpaid but also knows 300 mile 03/04 cobras are rare especially in a mystichrome. Bubble cars will go up for sure. The others only time will tell.

That's a die hard Mustang person right there. I love Mustangs, but if I was looking at spending that much on a car I'd be looking else where.

WOW!

I’ve seen that car on Facebook and it is lovely, but DANG! I’m feeling pretty good on what I paid for my 500 mile Mystichrome vert recently.
