1994-1996 Broncos - what are they worth?

I'm looking for a project 94-96 Bronco to build as a toy. Maybe for hunting, long travel, not entirely sure all the uses yet.

I'd like to stick to the 94-96 series with either the 5.0L or the 5.8L. I don't care if it's XL, XLT or Eddie Bauer.

One thing I am noticing is the perceived market value and the book value are way different. Resale asking prices seem to be much higher than book prices.

Example #1 - This 94 Eddie Bauer with 231,000 miles in pretty good condition but a rebuilt title is asking $6k: 1994 FORD BRONCO (5.8L V8)

Example #2 - This 96 XL with only 90k miles is in fair condition inside and out. Clean title but still asking $6k: 1996 Ford Bronco

Example #3 - another 94 Eddie Bauer with 378,000 miles. Not so good of shape, but clean title and asking $3,8000: 1994 ford bronco

Are these the normal prices for these kind of Broncos now day? Or are these sellers priced high?

If I had to pick from these 3, I think I'd go with #2 due to it being the last production year and lowest miles.

Which of these 3 would you pick? And why?

Thanks

Prices have been high on those things for years. I've seen super clean low mileage ones go for sticker.
Same thing with Excursions. there are many clean, low mileage versions that are ridiculously priced, especially if its a lower mile diesel. Ford built some wildly popular and rugged SUVs in the late 90's early 2000s. kinda crazy TBH.

The sheer fact you can't buy a non-whale sized SUV on a full frame is what's driving these trucks up.

Want a new Bronco? Well sorry folks. No one sells anything like that. Can't even get an explorer in a full chassis anymore so it's relatively a dead market.

I got mine for $2500 and it is clean for the mileage and age. Once I am done with it I suspect the value will be up around $8-10k from what I am seeing. You can srill get them for $2-3k but the nice ones have really shot up in value.

I was looking for one hard for awhile. You have to decide what you want and then go from there. I wanted 351w with MAF which makes 1996 the only year unless converted. With the new Bronco rumored to be coming out many people are jumping on that to jack the price up. I found in my area rough shape 93-96 are $3K-$5K ie dead motor or body rust out the wazoo. Good shape $5K-$9K, great shape low miles $7K-$15K, and show trucks in the $15K-$25Ks. The 351w usually go for a bit more.

In the end I ended up getting a V8 Exploder. Not the same but more practical.

They are pigs with the 5.0. 5.8 or bust...unless you plan to swap in something better. A stroked 351 (393,408,418) would be nice.

They really pull good money if they are solid. But few are solid - wheel openings and tailgates rot like crazy.

I’d go for a late 70’s model - I love that look and the old school interiors.

79 is my favorite.

Mine is the Eddie Bauer with the 5.8 which sounds amazing with exhaust but it is a gutless pig. You get a nice jolt of torque off the line but then it falls on its face right after. Part of me wants to rebuild it and another part wants to swap a Modular if I can since I have a ported 2.3 VMP IIR with nothing to put it on.

I’ve got a forged 408w in my CJ5 that I’m thinking of yanking for something more practical. Hell a swap would work...you’d just keep your intake stuff and I’d keep mine. Think you might need headers though as it’s got Vic JR heads and the exhaust ports are diff than factory I think. Or maybe they are just a tad higher.

Builder says the combo he set me up with dynos 495 flywheel. He specd a diff cam for me and was all excited for numbers but I never dynoed it.

Damn, that is tempting. Pretty sure your motor is worth more, but the 351 Windsor has potential, right? Isn't the 408 a 351W based motor? I dont know too a ton about these motors.

yeah you can get a 408 stroker from a 351W, can actually push one to 427ci...Quite nasty...

I have seen that before. Doesn't Ford Racing offer a 351W that is better built to handle big cubes? Or can they just do it from the factory? A 427 under the hood would sound so nasty!

I was looking though and you can swap just about anything into these Broncos. Cummins, PS, Big blocks, etc. Only thing I haven't seen is a Mod motor conversion but a friend of mine's shop has done Coyote swaps in them before with turbos so I know they have them.

yeah there is a ford racing/parts block, not much cost difference between that one and a Dart 351 block...I'd do the latter.

@svtfocus2cobra - A 408 (stroked 351) will wake up that Bronco with some good heads and a nice cam. Gas mileage can’t get much worse so why not swap? Imagine your 5.8 pulling a loaded trailer. That’s what a 5.0 would run like. :)
