I have had this engine in storage since fall of 2009. Originally came from a car that was rear ended with 25,000 miles. It was painted by the previous owner as well as having the valve covers, coil covers, front bridge, and a few brackets powder coated wrinkle black. Has the Billetflow 2.76 pulley, idlers, and a polished crank pulley on it but the motor has never been run since those were added. Willing to ship at buyers expense but pickup is preferred.

Asking $5,500 obo
Located in Mukwonago, WI

Update 3/19: Deposit received and sale pending until otherwise noted

Looks really sharp.

Good luck getting it sold.

Colin P. Smith

Thanks! Price is negotiable and includes a wiring harness plus a lot of additional parts. It's not bolt in ready but wouldn't take much to hear the whine!

I've rotated and oiled it as regularly as life has allowed. It does not need to be rebuilt but will need the front end assembled and torqued. Some photos from the last documented rotation and oiling.

Finally got all my parts and put my build together just to find out one of the pistons was fried in this engine. Not sure if Josh (pw_cc_runner) knew or not, but it’s devastating. Maybe he’ll respond back to my text messages and make it right.

Saved up over the last 10 months and dropped some serious coin. No expense was spared on this build. Had plans to start it up next week. After catching a few other small things that the seller didn’t disclose I decided to drop a camera down the bores to check out the pistons.

Make it right ? You have owned it for over a year. In op defense whose to say u didn't hurt that engine. You should have scoped it before you purchased. Sorry but impossible to take anyones side on this one. Chalk it up and move on.

It hasn’t been a year, but I understand how purchasing from a forum works. Doesn’t matter if it’s been a day or a year. The engine was purchased this way.

I’m just passing along information on the seller. Make sure to inspect everything thoroughly if you decide to work with him. Sure feels like he knew of the damage and pawned it off.

What cylinder was that? Was # 7 or 8
I have seen it before on those back cylinders due to the heat pockets in the rear of the left head.
Head cooling mods help with that.
If that's your case!
Sorry to here about that. Bummer...

It was the second from the back on the passenger side. I had the Wonder Racing HCM on, but obviously didn’t matter since this happened prior.

It just sucks, because I was trying to be ready for TX2K19. I guess the only upside is it’ll be built even better now. It’s only money right?

That sucks. I think I would have had to check her before I handed over that kind of coin. Old me would have trusted that it was ok. New, more screwed over me would have checked her out first.
I doubt seller does anything at this point, but if it did come like that I would assume that he knew.

I didn’t have the camera when I bought the engine. It was my first time buying an engine and didn’t even think to drop a camera in the spark plug holes. If I were to ever buy another engine (not likely) I would definitely rip as much apart as possible to inspect. If the seller was hesitant to allow this I’d likely request it be checked over by a reputable engine builder. Lessons learned.

My trust in people just keeps on fading. I don’t trust anybody any more.

If you are to the point of starting it, might want to do a compression check first. You might be surprised. Depends how far you are but I’ve seen worse run decent. Might ‘just smoke a little’, good luck.

On side note. What kind of camera do you have? Where did you get it?

No expense spared would mean you'd be building the engine, not buying a used engine that has sat in a garage for damn near 10 years.

Sorry, but not knowing either of you, I find it just odd that you "randomly" decide to check the cylinders of the engine a year after buying it.

I'd sooner guess you ran it; it had issues and you then checked it.

What's the compression/leak down numbers?

As for the seller owing you anything -

Its a used engine.

Just about any scrap yard or engine reseller is going to only give you a 30-90 day start up warranty. Those are major companies that can easily absorb the losses. I can also tell you that many of them would not warranty some piston speckles like that if the engine runs.

PayPal also only gives you 90 days to make a claim, same goes for most Credit Card companies. The reason all these groups use 90 days is because that is a reasonable window to identify any issues. Beyond 90 days, to much time has past to expect a seller to be held accountable, even on a moral level. At that point its the buyers fault for failing to inspect their purchase.
