Crate Engines, few questions

I've been looking at crate engines from Blue Print and they seemed good at first but I don't think that's a route I wanna take. Seeing as they use inferior heads and other parts, sounds like for that amount of money I could build something better(at least these are my thoughts after some slight resesarch). The main issue is that I have no experience with building engines at the moment other than building motorcycle engines and that experience is limited to just rebuilding an top end on my bike.. We are most likely going to have a shop install the engine if and when we do find one since we don't have a suitable place nor the tools at the moment..

We're(me and my dad) pretty much just looking for something to drop in that'll give a little bump in power and then I would like to work with my original 4.6 and see what I can get outta that power wise as I've read that the stock block isn't a bad platform to start with.

What about Tri Star?
any crate engines that you guys are familiar with that are perfect for dropping in to cruise and daily drive on?

For anyone curious, here's the models that my dad sent to me:
BluePrint Engines 306CI Crate Engine | Small Block Ford Style | Dressed Longblock with Fuel Injection | Aluminum Heads | Roller Cam

BluePrint Engines 347CI Stroker Crate Engine | Small Block Ford Style | Dressed Longblock with Carburetor | Aluminum Heads | Roller Cam

Back in 2010, I bought a 4.6 Aluminator short block from Ford. Lasted 500 miles before it spun 2 rod bearings.

That's my only experience with crate motors.

Damn I know that had to be a major let down. What'd you end up doing engine-wise after that?

I let the car sit for 8 years. That's what I did. I was heartbroken, and just mentally beat up.
It's currently in the shop now for a built motor/single turbo.

I don't blame you for parking it for a while lol, it sometimes takes a bit of time to recover from something like that.

I doubt you're using the block that you got from Ford this go around so are you using the one that originally came in the car or what? Just curious, trying to figure out the best route for myself here.

A drop in already dressed engine is ideal since I'm commuting in the car right now.

About a month ago I found a 03-04 termi engine for $5500, the guy said it had been sitting on a stand in his living room for a while and he was going through it, refreshing it up. My dad didn't want to jump on that one although I think it would have been better than any of the blue print stuff.

Yes the shop is using the Aluminator block.

You may want to check out Sean Hyland Motorsport. Many years ago, a friend got a complete engine from them for his '99 Cobra. Nothing fancy, it had stage 2 cams and a bit of head work. With LT, cat-back, and a CAI, it put down 364/364 SAE on a Dynojet.

I guess I've been lucky with my FRPP Aluminator, low compression 4.6 version, and it's been going strong for the last 10 years and over 600 wheel. I would personally take a look at MPR Race engines. Tim's been building some solid motors for years and will be doing my next motor if I need one.

Looks like a good shop to deal with! I like that Coyote Swap Calculator lol! Gonna forward this site to my dad. Thanks so much for the info!

That's good to hear the Aluminator setup you got from Ford is still alive and kickin' after 10 years. Seems that there is hope it would work for me, but MPR does look like a good option too. Plus they're located in florida, about 6 1/2 hours away but that's not bad.

Thanks so much guys for chiming in, gonna send this stuff to pops and decide on which way we will go.
