SO, with all he new data I could find, went to Wallace Racing - Drag Race Simulator and plugged it all in.

I used a 2013/14 tuned gt500 dyno #s (660hp peak) for dyno, Tremecs A gears, 90ms shift times, 3000rpm brakeboost. best/clostest other stats I could find

results are what I expected. All signs lead to a mid 10/130+ car

if we change it to rwtq vs ctq, its even better.. but who knows

What are you guys that are chasing the Demon going to do when Dodge drops the 426 Hellephant into a Challenger or Charger wide body?
I heard a "rumor" that FCA is coming out with some car called the "Angel". Have you heard this as well?
I thought the Hellephant engine was only to be used in a certain dated cars and back. 1970 and back, IIRC? No newer cars because it will not pass emissions?

I'm specifically interested in what ford can do with the GT500. I could care less about the dodge. This GT500 is supposed to do both well. Here are trying to figure out how well the dragging aspect will be. As little as we are staying on track, there seems to be a few good posts in the thread :)

Put slicks and a 6r80 in my 03 if one comes to my town. Put the $125k I save chasing 8’s that way vs with an angel into a max funded universal life account indexed. Buy a corona and sit on the beach too.

I like going fast, but I like the idea of being 8-9 figure rich before buying a 6 figure toy. I’m like a young redneck Sam Walton.

I tried the simulator and don’t know how accurate it is. I’ve ran 10.1@141 iirc maybe 143 on my pump gas tune but it claims I should be running 8.7@154. I failed somehow in real life or in the sim inputs... used a dyno sheet and pretty closesly matched my rwtq at many rpm points. I have 700wtq from 4000-6500 and then taper to 600wtq at 7k. I think it has 145-148mph in it with a perfect run but it’s not touching 154unless I run race gas and 15+psi. Also says top speed is 229, but the hood would fly off and the truck would rip off too. This sim seems like a calculator. My car would rip apart at 229

not care, nothing dodge has done excites me nor warrants my $. anyone can go fast with enough $. when approaching 6figures for a car, it better do everything well, or be a classic

did you adjust all of the values to match your car specifically? weight gearing, clutch slip, tires, launch rpm, shift times, temps, altitude, etc?

A lot of people always want to be the fastest and have the highest HP on the street, especially now that manufacturers are producing cars with the performance numbers with 700, 800+hp. Then again, car owners have been dragging cars on the boulevard for decades, so I suppose nothing has really changed with the exception of the price tag on vehicles and technology. But the mind set seems to be consistent.
In my late teens, 20's, and somewhat 30's, I cared more about being one of the faster cars on the road. Now, I drive to appease myself and don't really care about racing for time or bragging rights. I am more concerned about overall performance, how a car looks, creature comforts, and reliability. I am one of those middle aged guys you see in car cruises, many of the local car shows, and hanging out with local car clubs. A trip to the 1/4 mile is once in a 2-3 year span if that anymore. I just don't have the patience or time to fix broken parts like I used to, nor care to deal with the inconvenience.

I understand that approach but racing them is so much fun, it’s what they’re built to do. Still I also plan to keep this one relatively stock, at least for me.
I always drive them stock for a few months and decide what the goals for the car will be.

All cars should get outback builds. If it ain’t making 4000whp, and running 200mph burnouts, that’s not a knife

Australians are crazy in a good way

I finally saw this car at Toronto's auto show (CIAS to be exact), looks nice. I was actually quite surprised at the size of the front brakes and the calipers. Just seeing them in vids before real life doesn't show really how HUGE they really are.

Then it hits me...………..most regular cars are usually underbraked from the factory, a few select sports cars/exotics might have brakes that perform sufficiently and are sized correctly (or a bit over) for the intent of the vehicle in question.

Basically, what I'm speculating is that this Shelby has these size brakes probably because it needs them to perform properly. If the car was lighter it probably would have smaller brakes (maybe same as GT350/R). So even with all the CF stuff I have a feeling this car will come in quite the porker of a car, it would be scary to see what this car will weigh if it didn't have the lightweight parts on it.

IIRC, S197 V6 coupes were ~3,400 lbs. GT500 models were ~3,900. Would you call those generation GT500's porky? I would as well as this one. It's all relative. In the end the data will reflect the impact of heft in this latest version of the S550.

About 4250lbs is the sepeculations at present time.

My cobra was heavy in 03 at 3620lbs. I honestly never thought the mustangs would break 4000lbs but obviously they have.

That said, 4000lbs today is much better managed from magnetic shocks to geometry and compliance. If you take a 1993 foxbody and find a way to hit 4000lbs with it, it would be horrible to drive. I imagine the 2020 gt500 will feel like a 3250lbs car. Gt350r’s feel very light almost like a 2750lbs car.

That all said, go drive a 2500lbs car like an s2000. They are incredibly fun and tactile but at high speed they are sketch—————E.

Even my 03 cobra with full handling suspension, Brembos etc is sketchy at 150+ for a car with so much done to it. Then you drive a c5 z06 at 190 and it’s calm enough to crack a coke and nibble on a burger. Total package engineering from aero to suspension and chassis is critical as weight rises but honestly a heavier car can feel much easier to drive at high speed. Miata at 150 is ass puckering.

The veyron and Chiron are excellent examples

The mclaren F1 is still one of my all time favorite cars and always will be. That said I’d personally be very careful about trying to reach 240mph in that car like no wind strait road etc etc.

With a Chiron I’d let it eat on i15 or i80 pretty much any time it’s clear and feel fine going 260. Boring yes but death isn’t all it’s cracked up to be

I hope there are a lot of service stations along your route.
An electronic speed limiter will keep you at 261 mph. This is because the tires will begin to self-destruct due to heat. At top speed, you will only have 7 minutes of fuel.
