I am the blood pressure champ: 220/115. When my Doc saw it, I thought he was going to have a stroke. Bad news for me is: I can't have most of the meds out there, as they cause major swelling in my lower legs. So I'm currently on HCT and Amlodipine Besylate. That brings me down to 150/80, and I'm just going to have to take my chances.

It's always been high, since I was pre-teens. We discovered it in elementary school when a visiting Doc took my blood pressure in a science class. So we've watched it my whole life. It rose steadily as I aged, but in the mid-thirties it decided to set some records, aimed for the moon, and hasn't come down, yet.

The crazy thing: I always feel great. No tiredness, no headaches, and my resting heart rate is around 55beats per minute. I do a lot of walking at work, several miles a day, a fair bit of heavy lifting. I'm 5'-10" and built like a gorilla. I stopped working out in my mid-thirties, when my blood pressure started to go through the roof and we found most meds have the unfortunate side-effect of causing major swelling in my legs, and figured best not to push the odds. I'm 57, and still big and strong. Healthy as a horse, apart from the BP.

It's never good for your BP numbers to equalize. I'm pretty sure that signifies ------------------------------------------------------

Your mom
Ramipril here.

Works great for my mild hypertension.

Losing weight should bring it down to where I don't need to take it anymore, but what fun is that?

That’s what they tell me. Mine hit that mark 22 years ago. We can bring it down but it’s still high. Kidneys still ticking along fine. I’d probably have been one of those guys who dropped dead at 40 for no reason, if it weren’t for the meds. I know several folks not as lucky as I have been with regard to this.

Woke up this morning and took my pressure at 0700. Was 124/76. Had a cup of coffee and 30 minutes later I checked my pressure again 161/81. I know caffeine can raise your pressure but that’s quite the jump. I do take in a large amount of caffeine through out the day. I’m going to cut caffeine and see what results I have. Will keep you guys posted

This post caught my attention. Stop with the caffeine. It'll probably suck for a week or so while your body adjusts to it. But, I can almost guarantee it'll help with your blood pressure. Plus, it'll help you sleep better.
