Does anybody else feel like the shifters are just a little bit too far forward? i'm 6'2", not a t-rex, and I just wish I didn't have to move at all to grab the shifter. My last mustang was a 99 V6 but this cobra came with a T45 Triax that I've yet to experience since I got the car with the drivetrain on the outside. Does the triax solve this issue or does anybody else feel this way even after installing a short shifter?

Here's the current state of the cobra, I'm thinking of making a provision for a remote shifter a few inches back with a custom console.

i still use the stock shifter and have no problems with it in terms of reach or throw. i have a 97 so the james bond hide-a-way cup holder doesnt get in the way.

if anything, i wish the seat went further back. im 6'1" and it could go back another inch or two. i know you can drill the seat bracket out but i just havent cause im lazy i guess.

I wish there was a way to lower the seat a couple inches.

Are you referring to the factory or aftermarket shifters?

I reuse the factory handle on all of my aftermarket shifters for the reason you mention.

Always thought the shifter was too far up in these cars. I would always bring my seat forward about 2 inches if I planned on banging serious gears lol

Perfect shifter placement is where GM put them in the C6Z.

Transmission sits too high in the tunnel to do a remote mount under the car with levers.

You'd have to set it in the car, and at that point you'd be losing the center console/cup holders. No way thats happening with the big gulp drinking american population

I've had the MGW in two cars. I basically reach for 5th. I have the seat kind of close for 3rd. I want to try the comfort handle to see how it compares.

It's great. You can turn the shifter mount, and angle the shifter toward you. I have several different handles. I have a bad habit of giving them away. I will have to see if I have a comfort left.

where there is welding there is always a way! I'm doing through the floor SFC's though so I think my options might be limited :D
Exactly, when I had my sn95, I used a pro 5.0 base with a stock upper. I welded the stock upper holes then re-drilled it to sit lower and angle further back. It was a good feeling setup.

Same here.

I'm 6' and my oldknees just about hit the underside of the dash.

I used to run a Pro 5.0 shifter, and I could reach the knob fine from my seating position.
I have a MGW waiting to go in with the standard length handle (for now). My car is currently in the shop so I cant vouch for the MGW just yet. I'm hoping to be able to go with the short handle, but only time will tell.
