Well, the new toy hit the roads for the first time today (and possibly the last)! There was some good and some bad. First off, I had to pull the one out I’m selling to get the new one out. When I opened the garage door, this is what I saw on the one I’ll be parting with... I never get tired of that magical paint!

I pulled them both out on the driveway. The 500 mile one is on the right and the 4500 mile one is on the left:

I then put them on the road to move the Shelby to the lift spot. The new one will go in front of the 400 mile 96 Mystic Cobra. I don’t plan to drive either one, so no need to jockey cars. 500 in front 4500 in back:

I drove the new kid a handful of miles round trip to get inspect. First the good: it drives like a new car! Now the bad (kinda): the whole reason I drove it today was to get it inspected for tax/title/registration. It failed inspection due to multiple sensors in “not ready” status. The tech, who was blown away by the car, asked if it sat with a dead battery for awhile. I replied: “how about almost 15 years!” He said to drive it around a bunch to reset the sensors and then bring it back for a retest. Since this car will not be a driver, I went with “plan-b.” I called the DMV to confirm and my plan-b was what I ended up doing. I did “title only” with no registration, meaning I won’t get a plate for the car. I can get it through inspection and register it at a later date if I so choose. That said, I bought my 96 Mystic last June and the only time I’ve driven it down the road was for inspection.

I snapped this pic on the drive back. It got to the garage with exactly 503 miles:

Depending on your state inspection laws you may have another option. In Pennsylvania for example they don't specify which sensors must be active, only that any which are active need to be ready. The solution is to turn off the sensors with a tuner. Not sure how it works in other states but this is a work around in PA. They don't care if some or all sensors are off just so long as they don't see any not ready notices.

That would require the car to get a custom tune and I’m more interested in keeping this car 100% just like it left the factory. I’ll just keep it as is. I can always do the Ford drive cycle requirements to get all the sensors active in the future.

Goose, what kind of insurance do you have on the "new" Mystichrome since you won't be driving it and it's not registered.

I have Hagerty collector car insurance on it and it’s listed as driving a handful of miles per year.

Good choice on plan B. It can take 50-100 miles or more to get those sensors to reset. What a PITA! Plus...that could increase your odometer reading by 20%! :)

MC paint is growing on me more every time I see it...and I really liked it from the beginning!

Didn’t you have one for sale or was that a different one?

I sold my 15k mike vert when I bought my 2nd one with 4400 miles. Although the second one is in incredible condition, I plan to list it for sale in a couple weeks. It has 4600 miles and I really don’t need 2 of the same car. This is the one I’ll be selling:
