I'm wondering on my first outing what my technique to launch should be. Bone stock 6R80, no interest in shifting myself (obviously, right).

Pretty excited to share some info and video about my recently finished (sort of--are they ever finished?) TT build on my 18 Mustang.

Car is running a semi custom TT kit from CXRacing. I had to rework (cut, re-weld, reshape) a lot of the hot side of the "kit" to fit around the 10r80 in this car. On the cold side, i upgraded the upper IC pipe to 3.5" for better MAF resolution and ease of tuning. I had everything powder coated wrinkle black for a low key look.

Absolutely love this car. For the first 1/4 mi shake down, it did decently well. I would have loved to break into the 9s my first time out, but wasn't in the cards last night.

This pass was on 8 psi boost. I tried to turn it up to 10, but the track just wouldn't hold it with the 18" tire set up i was running.

Anyway.. not a lot of s550 content on this site, so thought I'd share.

Please excuse my son's excitement at the end of the video hahaha.

Nice pass and look effortless. Love the commentary by the little one and very cool that he is part of this with you.

not at my post...
139 is good, but was hoping for more .. you know how it goes hahaha. Fontana is a SUPER stingy track.

Running e85 with ID1050x's and a Sai Li return fuel system.

Pretty damn good pass for shakedown run. How do you like that Sai Li system? I have been wanting a return style setup, looking at his and the JPC one for E85. FWIW I have ID1000s.

It’ll get the job done. Nothing fancy. Gt500 pumps/hat with a -6AN bulkhead screwed into the top of the hat to facilitate the fuel return.

Install is easy.

I’m running ID1050x’s and have plenty of fuel now.

Try to get it on sale because at $1100 it’s not worth it IMO. I paid $950 over the holidays.

You got to be close to maxing the 1050s. Plan to step up to 1300s or bigger?

Injector duty cycle is still low. I don’t think the car is making much more than 750 or so, so should have some room still.

Get that thing on a dyno man! I know they're just tools, but I'm curious. Because I wouldn't imagine me going much faster with 815/833. Like 141-142 max.

Jeez, I need a 10R80.

I'll def schedule dyno time once im finished working out the kinks. The track outing definitely exposed some. I ordered all of the stainless tubing and bends i need to fab up a true 3" exhaust from the turbos back. That will be next weekends project.

I have been running 3" after the turbos to about a foot before the pumpkin... at which point it necked down to 2.5" into the factory mufflers.

Thats all going away which will free up some more power.

Y’all both need a dedicated wheel / tire package!

Im half way there lol. Ive got the fronts.. .just need to line up some 17's for the rear and some ET R's.

The closest I will come to a dedicated setup is a set of 17x10.5 Forgestar F14 Drag Edition wheels with 305/35 Mickey Thompson ET Street R tires. My car is a true daily driver (not saying gimmie11s' isn't), and I'm big on having my car rocking the same stuff at the track that you will find it cruising the streets with on a Monday morning on the way to the office, so some sacrifices have to be made. Especially when I drive 25-30K miles a year and only make a couple 1/8th mile passes in that same time span.

Don't get me wrong, the track > anything a dyno tells you. I'm just curious at this point is all. Would love to experience this car in person!

That's kind of my thought process as well.

I want to know what the car will run exactly how it's driven to the track.

That said... our local track prep is so bad i'll likely find me a set of 17s and see what happens.

If you don't mind me asking; what did that setup cost you installed and tuned?

Would be nice if ford sold a SRA swap for these s550 cars. Maybe make it for track use only (the S550 Cobra Jet is solid axle) . SRA would probably drop a good 200lbs. Making these newer mustangs about the same weight as the s197 while being more aerodynamic.

they can get pretty light with the IRS. My friends TT car with drag setup, tubular K, bumper and radiator support, Baer brakes and no back seats or trunk was in the 3300 range. fender exit exhaust helps a lot as well.
