Hey guys!

I have a 1999 SVT Cobra that is throwing a p0430 code. I have an o/r x pipe along with cat delete. I have the MIL eliminators installed, but am still getting this code. I cleaned the mass air sensor already. Anybody have any ideas? The sensor look to be in working condition and I have already tested the MIL eliminators to ensure they are working.

Thanks,

P0430 is a Bank 2 catalytic converter efficiency below minimum threshold. It would normally indicate a catalytic converter or O2 sensor malfunction. Since you don't have a cat and have MIL eliminators it is likely a problem with it. Switch your MIL eliminators from side to side and clear your codes. If the code changes to P0420 this is for Bank 1 and will confirm it is a problem with your MIL eliminator.

Get it tuned to delete that. MIL's are bandaids.
I've been running MIL deletes for a while without any issue. I like that the computer can be scanned and not find any readiness issues. The ECM thinks everything is still intact.

YUP! Do the simple checks first. Then go to the more complicated (and usually expensive) checks after if needed.

Yes, a tune is the most reliable way to eliminating cats, but not everybody has access to a reliable tuner, and we all know how email tunes can turn out if you choose the wrong tuner.

It’s weird because I switched my MIL eliminators and it seems to have fixed the issue... for now. I do not have any pending codes though.

It may have been something as simple as a loose connection.

The same side, or did it switch banks?

It's possible that you have a bad O2 sensor. I'm not sure if the sensors themselves are side specific. I can't remember.

The sensors do have different color plugs. I imagine that's to help on the assembly line. Looking at them I can't see why they couldn't be swapped side to side for troubleshooting though. However, in swapping the MIL eliminators side to side you've already done that. The next step would be to start looking at the wiring. The fact that the code didn't follow the eliminator shows it's something on that side. And if it suddenly popped up then there's a chance something hit the wiring or rubbed through. At this point you need to get under the car with a flashlight and start looking.

Tomorrow I will switch the sensors along with looking very closely at the wiring. If there is any other ideas or tips you have I am all ears. I will get back with you guys after I look at it tomorrow.
