If our ‘13s had a 315 tire outback, 3.73s factory, a dual-clutch transmission, and fancy magnetic shocks, it’d be faster than the new GT500.....

But, it doesn’t.

It’s a shame the TR-9007 is only good for 664ft lb torque. Not sure anyone will attempt a TR-6060 replacement ... looking forward to following if someone does though.

Don't / didn't care for the looks of the S550, that's why I ordered my 14.
..........( that & the lack of hp )
So ( 6 ) MY's later, a new GT500 is set to hit the streets, still has that S550 look.
No glass roof, no 6 speed, doesn't seem to fit MY idea of what a GT500 should be.
We still don't know it's ( crank ) hp rating yet, but I'm confident it will be less than what I'm currently driving. The DCT is fast, but if you enjoy driving a stick, it doesn't matter how fast it is.
Still happy with my 14, & it isn't going anywhere !!

Strangely that limit is based on a larger gross vehicle weight, like GVW 6000# plus.
In a 4000-4200# GT500 with driver it’ll likely hold much more.

I read on tremecs website that max torque was 650ft lb in 5th gear. So how would you calculate out fairly to compare? My guess is the DCT is not as robust

I completely agree with the concern about an unknown in the limits of the DCT, but Tremec doesn’t rate the manuals much more. I’m putting over 800rwtq through my Magnum XL that’s definitely rated for less. Trust me, a few days after delivery guys will be modding and beating these on track to do some real R&D!
After watching those new car vids with guys wringing out new supercars, I’m sold!

Performance Package - You need this before you can get the Track Pack. They are 2 separate options.

That PP image is cool and I have always liked it, but the rotors and the front brakes are the same so not a PP upgrade. They also didn't mention the Torsen which was another major decision in my getting this option.

I think the new GT500 has confirmed our cars are the last of their kind—big torque, manual trans, live rear axle. I doubt we will see larger displacement or a manual trans; very likely future S650s will involve hybrid electrification. All that will advance the breed, but will also cement our cars as the last of the muscle car GT500s.

I agree 100% with this. Well-said. A good friend at Ford told me when I bought my 14 this was a "Milestone" Mustang. I believe that is still accurate and will be for the future.

LOL.

Please explain how your car with the above mentioned improvements would be faster than the new car with a motor that revs higher, has a larger blower, likely 100 more horsepower, and a new chassis that can actually put the power to the ground.

Inquiring minds want to know.

You missed the sarcasm. The thread was turning into a circle jerk.

I’m sure we are in agreement that when a newer model comes out, especially a premium model, that the new one is going to be better in almost every way.

Reminds me of 2007 when the GT500 came out and people had to constantly defend the 03-04 Cobras. It’s an ego think for us guys when the car they own is being dethroned.

It’s progress but what people fail to understand is that it takes nothing away from what former top dog( ie 93 Cobra, 03-04 Cobra, 13-14 GT500) meant to the muscle car community and what it did to set the performance bar at that time.

Some people just have an issue admitting their car is no longer at the top.
