That's where I disagree with you. The advanced mechanics and abilities of the futuristic shooters keeps things fast paced and exciting (if that's your thing) so long as the maps aren't atrociously huge. My all time favorite FPS is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (and now Modern Warfare Remastered). It's slower paced with appropriate sized maps and very realistic.

Modern Warfare 2 was always my go to, I felt they took all the good things from the first one and slightly improved upon them. Havent played that game in probably 8 years though.

It's not for me. I just can't get behind futuristic shooters like Halo, some of the CoD games and now Anthem.

I also can't get used to WASD, so all my FPS games are played on Xbox One. Lol

I agree when it comes to FPS. I don't want jet packs, wall running, double jumps, or anything of the likes. That's why my favorite FPS shooters have been CoD:MW, MW2, MW3, and CoD:WWII. But 3rd person games are different for me for some reason. I enjoy futuristic elements and when I can can see my character and look over his shoulder while I shoot and move.

I think your definition of fast paced and mine are two different things. I'm used to the Quake 2 days playing on lithium mods with grappling hooks where the speed is dialed up to 1,000. Modern shooters are slower than molasses compared to those types of twitch shooters. Some of us old timers were pretty happy with Epic brought back that twitch style of play with Unreal Tournament.

Really I'm fine with any FPS where there isn't a bunch of the stuff mentioned above. I'm even OK with destructible environments like in Battlefield. I never had an issue with MW2 or 3 personally, but it seemed like the support for those games stopped before MW funny enough. Like it was impossible to find a non-hacked MW2/3 lobby when you could still find some in MW. Now there's MWR which kept the controls and mechanics but just added a prettier layer to things. Not a fan of the unlockables now, but they don't give anyone an advantage so I don't care, eye candy really.

Yeah, Quake 2 was before my time old man. I mean, I was around but I was five. Lol

Ace combat 7 has been amazing so far. I honestly had no idea there would be multiplayer as I hadn’t read up much on it beforehand. I just picked it up because I loved the old PS2 AC games. But it’s been a nice change of pace over all the FPS games lately.

Anthem doesn’t look very promising to me, though. The Mass Effect series is one of my all time favorite games that actually got me back into gaming after quitting for several years. Even the novels are good reads, but Andromeda really let me down. So I don’t have much trust in Anthem

I'm with you man, COD4 MW and now MWR have always been my favorite. I liked most of the call of duty games up until more recent where they started going futuristic. I really enjoyed the black ops games too but modern warfare has always been my favorite. I paid to have infinite warfare just to have remastered when it came out and never even played infinite warfare lol. Thought I hated the add ons with the weapons and such but actually don't mind them. they don't really give anyone an advantage or take away from the original gameplay.

I'm currently playing battlefield one and V, I got a killer deal on both of those and my brother plays them so I play online with him. They are good but I don't like them as much as call of duty. the gameplay is just way different, and although i feel like I'm pretty good at call of duty, I absolutely suck at battlefield lol

I never could master the Battlefield mechanics myself. Loved the games, communities and features, but just absolutely sucked at it. I watch @KyleSVT play Battlefield V on PC and he's pretty damn good at it. Blows my mind.

First AC game that had multi player was Assault Horizon for the PS 3, I totally hated it as it pretty much scrapped everything that made an AC game an AC game.

If I remember right, the team that did the original Mass Effect trilogy started on Anthem right after #3 was released. A different team handled Andromeda. I’m excited to see if it captures some of the original trilogy’s magic.

I've heard more than once "Anthem will be what Destiny was supposed to be." Personally I thought Destiny was a huge flop: Half released game with tons of DLC that was all the same regurgitated content over and over, and then Destiny 2 which was basically just the exact same game as Destiny 1... Among many other reasons, it was a flop.

The trailers for Anthem make it look new and exciting, but I'll wait for actual game play and reviews. I have my eye on Metro: Exodus coming out at the same time, so I dont mind jumping ship if it's not any good.

I am excited to Anthem. Pre-ordered a few weeks after you could. I am a bioware fan and while there is some iffyness to it due to EA. I wont just not buy something because it is associated with EA like some people.
The biggest complaints so far seem to be from PC people and the controls when flying. And the blind naysayers because of EA. Oh and that its like destiny. This game was already started when destiny came out so that is a semi moot point.

I am playing this on Xbox1X since most of my friends play on xbox. The controls are easy to pick up and get used to, the flying is great, the visuals are awesome. If it matters I played the closed Alpha and was able to play in every single session. I can bet there will be some hiccups come release. But there is with any brand new game but I think they will be quick to patch some issues right after launch. They need this game to succeed and they have been working on it for a long time.

So if anyone is on Xbox and wants to team up. Let me know! I will be on next weekend too playing it in the demo.

There once was a time when EA "was in the game" but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. I'll stick with the RE2 remake this Friday.

I have a feeling that the disasters and backlash that came from Battlefront 2, Battlefield V, and Mass Effect Andromeda have forced EA to step back and allow the developer to put out the product that they want to. It’s been in development for 7 years so I like to think that they’ve had more than enough time to launch a completed game on day 1.

They already stated that the only microtransactions will eve for cosmetics that can be earned via grinding in game. But I will be interested to see if that holds up over time. My main concern would be EA launching the game without them, waiting for the reviews and metacritic score to roll in high then add them in on the backend.

I’ll be on XB1X.

Activision/Infinity Ward died when they were so ****ing lazy, they direct ported MW2 from the consoles to PC. No mod support and went to PvP matchmaking for multiplayer and completely removed dedicated servers. Only COD game I bought and played since COD 4 was World at War but only because it was based in the Pacific. Just played SP though.

I still dont understand how they could release COD4:MW (an FPS masterpiece) then launch a giant pile of dogshit like MW2.

BF2 has been out for over a year and there’s still problems that haven’t been resolved, and new problems have come to fruition. They’ve been constantly updating. Grevious was a nightmare, only one of his abilities worked when he was introduced. Kylo has become almost useless. I won’t go on but you get the idea.
Reason why a buddy of mine wants to get back to cod. Told him it’s WW2 or I’m not doing it. Haven’t played a cod game since ghost.

Pick your poison.
