I decided to sell mine several months ago but didn't pull the trigger until recently. I figure that when sales start going up for 2020 GT500s, there will be more 13/14s for sale. I wanted to beat the rush while the value is still decent. Plus someone will get one hell of a car. If anything, I don't see depreciation hitting that hard anyways.

I have a lot of equity in that car. Enough equity to wipe out all existing debt aside from a mortgage. That gives me a hell of a lot of breathing room.

I think the question I have is, exclusivity aside, how is this GT500 going to drive differently than a blown S550? Enough so that a current GT500 owner with blower and other mods would notice a difference to justify the additional cost?

Of course, plenty will want the new GT500 and its no knock on them for that. Its looking like a monster! But is there enough noticeable difference? I guess in time we will find out.

Good question.
In past years we've had an exclusive engine, one you couldn't get in the Mustang GT, and while the engine in the new GT500 isn't EXACTLY like the 5.0 it certainly isn't that different from it.

For the price of a GT500 it would be hard not to consider a gt350 with a TT set up and motec. Still far different rides but it would be a toss up for someone like me who just wants fast street cars these days and maybe a track rental here or there

Or a 5.0 GT with a 2650 on top. Roush already has a 700hp kit for it. A pulley and tune for even more.
Should be lots cheaper than the GT500.

There are many dealerships offering that as an option...you can do that to a base GT and be around 40K OTD....

Yes Ford did nothing in their 3 years of developing the GT500.
You think it could have been done in 6 months?

How long will the boosted voodoo motor last? No thanks. I think the voodoo motor will end up like the trinity. nice to have, expensive to repair/replace parts.

I should have expanded, for the price difference between the two you can get a built motor and TT kit after potential ADM of 20k and up for new GT500.

Not saying this is a better set up, but if I were going to plop the cash down it would be tempting.

I’m actually excited though to see how the GT500 does, I’m sure it’ll be a hell of a car even for the money with mark up.

think the biggest problem in the voodoo is the cast OPGs...still can't believe ford used those in a motor that can be spun a little north of 8K. The oil consumption issue can be addressed with a good catch can setup, perhaps some restrictor in the pcv circuit. I have had to do that on most of my LS builds to stop oil consumption and its worked so far, gone from filling up catch cans to almost nill by restricting the pcv circuit with a smaller orfice inline.

You're absolutely right about the S550 having as much HP or more than the new GT500.
I think the new DCT and the track-focused cues the new GT500 gets from the GT350/GT350R cars will make the big difference.
